In the market
Back in 2004 I had to sell my '96 Grand Sport, and I have been Corvette'less ever since. Well until today that is. I decided it had been long enough, and I was going to remidy the situation, so I went to a local Chevy dealership and test drove 2 'Vettes. Both '08 6-speed coupes. The first one was the new Jet stream Blue Metallic, a pretty color, but not as nice as the previous Le Manse Blue. It was a nice car, but I wasnt too happy with the color or the options. It was fully loaded, power everything, memory package, the works. The sales person asked what I wanted and I told them a bare-bones (or as bare-bones as Corvettes come these days :) ) black coupe. About 15 minutes later a beautiful
black coupe pulls up wearing a set of amazing gun metal wheels. Her only options were the dual-mode exhaust and the competition wheels. It was lust at first sight.

Long story short, I took her for a test drive, and she is now sitting in my garage. Of course, being that I live in the Pacific Northwest, Mother Nature decided to help me celibrate by snowing. Yup, there was snow falling from the sky during my test drive!!! In April!!!

Anyway, on to the important stuff, the pictures!

Jason, I am so stoked for you! I just knew you would not stay Corvette-less for very long!

What a beauty you found. :upthumbs

Now, after you drive it a bit, tell us the truth. Is is better than a BMW? :L

That's OK. You do not have to answer. I sure would not want you to incriminate yourself! ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

SAVE THE :w

Congrats, twiget! I suppose if not yellow ones were available, a black one might have to do... ;)

Pay no attention to the Mountie, Jason. Black is the perfect color for a C6. I know of what I speak, here.

Congrats on the acquisition!

Thanks guys. The more I drive her, the more I find I really, really missed driving a Corvette. At 436HP, the 'Vette has almost 2.5 times the horsepower that my Bimmer did. And while I did enjoy driving the Bimmer, it did not wrap around me the way my 'Vette does.

It is really an apples and oranges comparison though. Even though the price points are about the same between a 3-series and a base Corvette coupe, the goal of the two cars is completely different. The 3-series is a great GT/Luxury car, while the Corvette is all about speed.

Patrick, the only time I pay any attention to the police (or Mounties) is when they are flashing their blue and red lights at me. Oddly enough, I haven't had a cop do that to me since just before I sold my GS... :W

Jason,

Welcome back!! Nice choice of Corvette, too! :)

Elaine

Hi Jason,

Perfect choice for that performance look. I couldn't have picked a better one myself. I'm thrilled that you have gotten back into a Corvette again. As much as you loved your GS I can't wait to hear your report on life with this car.

Do you still have the old Blazer?

Tom

Congrats on your new C6. I just got mine last week, but I live in So Cal, so no snow here. Congrats again and enjoy.

I just got back from a 200 mile cruise. All I can say is OMFG!!! The sound of the dual-mode exhaust at WOT is awesome. That is what every Corvette that comes from the factory should sound like!

Jason

:w Jason,

I need to get around a bit more :eyerole

There I was reading a post in the L81VetteRegistry Forum and I see this post from twiget, no big deal... THEN I noticed the avatar... OMG ... quick close the Registry forum and send the mouse to the C6 Forums...

Well, Well, Well Lookie Here The Young BIG GUY got another Corvette :D

Way to go Jason, are you going to put the "hash marks" on your new one ;) I'm thrilled to see you back in the fold and things are going good for you. Is this your graduation present??

Your doing everything right, Keep up the good work.. Sometime down the road maybe you can compare brute strength of your old GS to your new more sofisicated C6 ... ;) Contratulations!!

Bud

Jason, good to see you back in the corvette; did you keep your black BMW? It would be great to see you at CF in Cleveland, terrific way to have a great drive across the US this summer. Expect to see more posts from you. Again, congrats on the new ride, it looks great.

Congrats Jason.. Great color choice. I just got my C6 a week ago and all I want to do is drive it. I also got a black coupe with the Z51 package and NPP exhaust as well as some other stuff.
I think you were right when you said it was "lust at first sight".
The new Vette is just a little slice of heaven. They are incredible..

Life is pretty good with the new 'Vette, Tom. Everyone at work is drooling over her, and I got a couple thumbs up from people on my cruise last night. As for the Blazer, I sold it a while ago.

Bud, I was wondering how long it would take you to find this. If you had taken much longer, I would have had to send you a PM. :boogie

At my current rate, I'm about 1.5 years from completing my degree. As much fun as my Bimmer was, it's not a 'Vette. I figured 4 years was long enough with out a 'Vette. I didn't want to have to wait another 1.5 - 2.

Barrett, it does not look like CF08 is in the cards, though I am planning on doing CF09. As for the Bimmer, I traded her in, they gave me a great deal on the trade-in because they all ready had a guy that was looking for a black BMW 3-series convertible for his wife.

Congrats Jason.. Great color choice. I just got my C6 a week ago and all I want to do is drive it. I also got a black coupe with the Z51 package and NPP exhaust as well as some other stuff.

I was trying to figure out what I should name her. I came up with a lot of stuff like stealth, black magic... stuff based on her color, but nothing really fit. Then I thought about how I had said it was lust at first sight, and I thought "thats it!". She is now christened "Lust". ;)

A friend of mine lived in that area a while back. I am sure I'll be out and about a lot this summer, and if I see you I will definitely wave! :w

Dawg, I might get in trouble if I blew off my little sisters 30'th B-day part for a parade. Be sure to take a lot of pics though. You and Bill can show me them at breakfast on Sunday!

Speaking of back in black, I took a couple more pics, and a video of my first burnout in a long time. With out further ado, the video can be found here
