hey guys, i installed my new MAF ends today on the vette, while i had the sensor out i cleaned it with MAF Cleaner (done this before) anyway i cleaned it and put it back together, unhooked the Neg battery terminal for about 30 sec to "reset the pcm" and hooked it up and fired her up.... ran fine..as i put it in reverse and backed down the drive it hesitated and bucked a little bit, :mad i got to the bottom of the drive way and revved her once then proceded down the road it felt as if it did run a little better, definately gave it a diffrent sound, my question to you is. do you think the little bit of hesitation i got at first was the pcm adapting to more air? or maybe the Maf was still a little damp? it seems to be fine now. just wondering what you guys thought. thanks

Clear all DTC's again - ALL modules, 1, 4, 9, DERM (A) using this procedure...

Then run to warm again - closed loop, and check for current or history DTC's.

its not thorwin any codes and the SES light is Not on... it just seems to me now that it idles lower....maybe im imagining things?:Wfor instance when you blip the throttle it comes down real low and almost shakes a little before it goes up to regular idle..and when i come to a stop it seems to idle really low... the idle spec is 625 correct? thats what it looks like on the speedo?

I run at 450rpms in drive at idle, and 625ish in neutral with my LT1... Your idle is fine... I use my diagnostics scanner to see the "live data" and get the exact Rpms...
:cool

Did your new MAF end pieces come with a white (black) plastic air foil to be installed in the middle?

WHILE DRIVING WITH YOUR NEW MAF END PIECES, DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE THE :w!

yes they did, they didnt fit very well i had to lightly sand them to get them to fit in there nice and snug i made sure to clean everything with the MAF Cleaner, it just seems like it has that "surgyness" :) at idle in gear kinda i used to have acces to a SNAP-ON Modis II scanner but now that i am out of tech class i dont get to play with it everyday :bash
like i said it may all be in my head, i was thinking about buying a new set of injectors being that mine had 130k on them.:w

Loping idle when warm?

By loping, I mean up and down; not just low...

haha yes of course, my best answer to that would be no, the tach is not jumping but the feeling i get say when i let off the brake is as if it is bucking (very lightly) very hard to explain

I was getting at a vacuum leak. Very regular, rhythmic up and down revs at idle - up to 1,100 or so, back down to 400 or so, up, down, up down...

no def not that wild you cant even tell it on the tach... as i drive it more i am begining to think its all in my head lol :ugh

Well, only thing I can think of is head for a speed shop, get a scan/data log done for idle and for a drive with a shift cycle and 15 minutes cruise, and go from there.

You can do it yourself with a hardwire interface for your laptop-to-ALDL, and some free software downloadable from the web. That's always good info anyway - let's you see potential problems, BEFORE they're a problem...

The reason I asked about the air foil is because some of the companies who make the MAF ends do not include this part. When you do not have the air foil the PCM gets varying readings about the air flow. This not only causes the idle to go up and down, any dyno tuning is not possible because of the different idle speeds.

As you have this part, you should be good to go.

I would keep driving your Vette. I am sure the idle will smooth out.

WHILE DRIVING YOUR VETTE, DON'T FORGET TO SAVE THE :w!

thanks guys for all the help i drove her on a 50 mile trip last night to the race track and everything was fine even when i put that little red rustang in my rearveiw:D i went to the test n tune at our closest track Eastside Speedway, i didnt participate this time i just watched to see how everything was done. i swear i seen about 485994003948750330 Fox body mustangs!!! one vette pulled in the entrance then turned around.;shrug it was neat watching though i plan on taking the vette next weekend. thanks again guys :beer

P.S LT4Man , while going to the track ill be sure to save the wave!:w
