water pump failed. need to replace distributor too?

Funny how post can come up again and again... Flyinggem: I just got my Holly back on the road after 2 years of sitting. This is the first thread I looked at in about a year on this site (1st time in a year even logging on this site!) and it just so happens I responded to this thread then. I...

    Crankshaft balancer removal

Wow this thread is still alive... Once again I am suprised that this thing still has legs... I don't have ready access to a digital camera but will post a pic or two when it's it's done. Mine worked pretty well because it fit in bell and out of the way. Looking back on my description it...

Car over heating very fast under load...

OK deep breathing done... Thanks for the continued tips. Ya I think the flat bed will be pulling up in my drive soon. I am going to pull the pump. If I can't find anything there then I am going to call around for towing quotes. However, I will submit a kitchen pass for the cool infared heat...

Car over heating very fast under load...

Well, still have a problem... Over heating still. :mad The last thing I did was purge the system and idled the car with the cap off and hard wired the water pump. (Good/Bad... I am tring anything now...:confused ) I got a blip of air here and there but nothing serious (possible last bubble of...

    foggy windshield revisited

Any new interior products? If you have some new interior products this "outgassing" could be accelerated. Some of the more less costly interior suppliers sometimes use materials that increase the problem.

    Anyone not like the C6

french cars... I know liking or disliking a car is a personal thing. I just had to say it. Heck, I liked that screaming chipmunk (Turbo charged Renault Le Car) with the fat bologna tires under the flaired fenders.

    Anyone not like the C6

I have to vent.... I saw one on the road... It took me three glances at the car to figure if it was an actual C6. At first glance I thought it was a new ricer or customized C5 or something. I DO NOT like it. I hate to say it but the Caddy Vette looks better... Did I say that out load? Dang...

Car over heating very fast under load...

I think purging these things is tricky sometimes. I have purged the car with this elec pump a number of times with no problems. Not sure what went on this time... Shish!!! I will repurge again just to be safe. Thanks.

    Crankshaft balancer removal

There are no "hooks". basically it's a slices of round stock steel with 4 holes in it. Take out the three "bell" bolts on the bal. Take out the center crank bolt and replace with a slightly longer one. Screw three "bell" screws into the bal. Then screw one long bolt through the puller untill it...

    Crankshaft balancer removal

Congrats skyguy007... It took me a while also. Glad to see someone is getting some use out my old post. I was suprised to see it open again. I have access through my brother-in-law to a machine shop. We detailed up a print for a special puller made out of some round stock. Works like a charm...

Car over heating very fast under load...

Update... Finally able to run my test. Hard wired the pump and removed the T-stat. After purging (more on that in a minute) I let it idle for about 20 minutes. It got up to only 218. No leaks, no problem with hoses clapsing, no problems. I shut it down and left the pump on. It didn't cool down...

    Dexcool question....

Thanks... I had a problem with my Vette overheating. I got another post running but havn't had a chance to run some test to figure it out. See my post on overheating under load... Anyway a freind of mine is having a problem with his GM van. Dealership was giving him a story about the heater...

    Dexcool question....

Thanks... I think I was misunderstood. The remaining amount of Dexcool in the cooling system, will that gum up inside the rad or heater core after it overheats?

    Dexcool question....

I boiled over my 96. I started a thread other than this one but have an interesting question. If it boils over or overheats does the dexcool coolent (red stuff) gum up? Would it cause damage to the cooling fins in the rad or heater core?? Please help:)

Car over heating very fast under load...

Thanks all... Still raining here and now I am away on business. :cry Thanks for replies. I will keep you posted as I test it later this week or over the long weekend. I don't have (or at least don't know if I do) spring loaded hoses. I bought them at Autozone if I remember correctly. I will...
