  • Oh, and by the way....the 40 series really do sound good at idle and cruise....at cruising speeds, it gives the exhaust note a nice tone without being too loud. I love it!....I first tried a pair of Magnaflows, but the exhaust sound was almost non-existent...too quiet!...then I switched to the Flowmaster 50 series, then to the 40 series, and I decided to keep the 40s. I also replaced my catalytic converter with a new, high-flow one and it made a tremendous difference!!...more power with better fuel economy to boot!!
Yes, the 50 series Flowmaster mufflers are quieter than the 40 series. The 40 series gave the perfect sound to my 1981 L81 4-speed Corvette!...I really love the exhaust note!...and they are not too loud, just the right note!...at first I was afraid that the 40 series mufflers were going to be obnoxiously loud, but no, they are just how I like my Corvette to sound!...trust me, guys!...you should try them first. I myself tried out the 50 series first, and they sounded good too, but kinda quiet for my taste. I ended up selling them on ebay within three days!...Flowmasters sell fast!
I was reading one of your post about the 40 series flowmaster. Are the 50 series really to quiet? I dont want the car to be to loud, just better then stock. The 40 series sounds good at idle and cruise? Thanks for your input
