What Oil Filter Is The WORST???

I read a blurb here (?) a few years back on oil filters. I wanted to show a friend who sold me a Chevy 2500 6.5 Turbo diesel that the FRAM filters he used for the 1st 277k are junk. Funny, but the engine seems well preserved. :W My moto? Friends don't let friends use Fram oil filters! Are the...

Aux heater fan "off" switch wiring thoughts?

A friend of a friend has a pretty stock '80 (AC) coupe, and he's annoyed at the constantly whirring fan. I suggested a relay and micro switch. I would use a stock heater fan relay mounted right beside the original one for "originality" purposes. Stock type factory terminals, etc. Anybody have...

Project Anti-Ken-A Very Low Budget 350 build

Your timeline is similar to mine... forever. I've not got Corvette, but three Chevy's in yard, all with variations of worn-out itis. Auto zone sells their 2 bolt 350 (1979) for $800. Parts America wants $1150.from reconengines.com. Big price difference. Local guy wants $1050 with sillycone...

    intake & distributor removal 101

Hello, my name is Andrew and I`m the guilty party that`s been cluttering up the garage lifts neighborhood. But I`ve gotten a little bored and thought I`d poke around someone elses hangout. :w :r I`m in my pj`s, so I can only speak from memory, but I believe that the oil pump groove in the...

My solution to have 25` clear space...

To set the beams on top of the top plate, we had to slacken off the cables that we used to pull the bulging side walls in. The middle ones weren`t bad, but the last four at the front took a BIG crowbar and some gentle persuation(?) from our friendly 8lb sledge hammer.:bash Next we`re gonna`...

My solution to have 25` clear space...

The previous pictures aren`t the best. They show the first beam being hoisted up through a 26` long slot cut through the old floor. The other shot is from up above, showing the hole we cut, the pile of tin covering a corner of the "hay loft". We found flattened cardboard boxes under the tin...

My solution to have 25` clear space...

Things are moving right along. The boys raised 4 beams this morning while I was away. By lunch time we had placed them on top of the top plate. Quite the struggle, as the roof rafters were in the way. We just released the tension on the come-a-longs that were holding the building from spreading...

    osb board on walls

Don`t forget the vapour barrier. This is 1 mil poly. sheeting on the inside(warm) side of the insulation. It is mandatory to keep bad `ol Jack Frost from sucking the moisture right through the sheathing and (forever) soaking the insulation.

    osb board on walls

Youz guyz can go looky at my bawn at "my solution ...25` clear space". Click on "sheathing" attachment. I also used 3/4" OSB to build my box beams. Keep in mind that one can buy "seconds" of most construction material. I found a place, actually a chain of stores that specializes in seconds and...

Pictures of your air compressor setup please

I feel like the lonely instruction manual, neglected and never read... TYPE M=MICKEY MOUSE, UNDER 50LBS ,TYPE L=ELEVATED PRICE,GOOD TO 200?lbs , these are both ridgid lengths. I don`t recall seeing TYPE K in "sticks", only soft rolls.

My solution to have 25` clear space...

I promised to include a material list, but I wuz away for a week, and things have piled up. I did notice that we used a full box of 2" (strip) nails, plus a few from a `nother box, so 6500 per box, total 8000. These were used to attach the 3/4" sheathing to the 2x4`s. We also used about 15...

Pictures of your air compressor setup please

This thread is GREAT! I`m (re)building my barn right now. If I use rigid copper pipe, should one use the red type L ? This is the thinnest, cheapest, and is designed for hydronic (heating) use. Type L is 50% thicker, and is intended for water supply . It also costs about 50% more. Lastly...
