    Engine cleaning for ZR1

All: I've used both Baking Soda/water and Colgate original(white paste) toothpaste with great success. Both have very fine grit for light cleaning and works fantastic on the pesky water/oil stains common on LT5 plenum and cam covers. Regards, Brian A. 90 ZR-1 11.94@118 01 Z06 not stock

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

Kevin: Well, at the very least we can get together for a beer... Brian A.

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

Well: Yes Kevin, we've met, sorry we didn't have a chance to chat at this years event. The weather really hindered people 'making the rounds' I think... Re: us running, sure, I'm up for it. I'm tentatively planning on going to Carlisle this year, we could hook up then if I do end up going...

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

Sql: I am not 'dogging' ZR-1 guys. Good grief, look at my sig, I *have* a ZR-1. If it came down to selling one, it would be the Z06 without a doubt. A Z06 is easy to replace, a ZR-1, not so much.. This is getting into a pretty big urination contest which was not my intent. I simply don't...

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

You wrote: Also perhaps the driver of the other Z06 didnt downshift and/or is a poor driver? You're 12.2@115 car is a 15.1@97 car in other peoples hands... If a person can only turn a 15.1@97 in a Z06, they should be stooge slapped and have the car keys *immediately* taken...

small run in with a Z06 sunday (long, kinda)

Kevin: You must have the quickest stock 90(sans chip) ever built, or be the best driver in the world, maybe both . My *completely* stock 385hp 01 Z06 turns 12.2-.3@115mph over and over; I don't even change the tire pressure, just stage it and run. I've run *several* stock ZR-1s from a 1st...

    Headers

Hey All! Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the delayed reply. Rob, feel free to email me about any questions you may have re: the headers(usa_won@yahoo.com). Hib, you know the Random Tech cats on the back of these headers would make you 'legal' in CA...:) Brian A. 90 ZR-1 ZR WON...

    ZO6 Best Qtr. Mi. Times?

Well: I have a slow '01 and turned 12.27@115.09mph completely stock with a 2.0 60ft time. If I could get a 1.7 like some of these guys do(I'm not going to abuse the clutch like that) I'd be in the high 11.7 range at 117 and some change, completely stock... Z06s are quick, damned quick.. Brian...

    Current ZR header manufacturers

Hey all! Thanks for all the compliments! Don't get over to this forum as much as I should so apologies for not posting personally until now. Anyone else looking for a set of headers don't hesitate to shoot me an email. Thanks again!:) Brian A. '90 ZR-1 '01 Z06

    ZR-1 Exhaust Question

Hey Biz: Don't come over here much but I gained 8rwhp over Flowmasters when switching to the Tri-Flos. This had the restrictor plates removed but the resonator in place. After the x-pipe was installed I gained *another* 8rwhp for a total of 16. I know it's hard to believe but it's a fact. You...

Is there anyway to avoid getting a "dog"?

Hello! It's mostly cam timing that causes the performance variance engine to engine. This issue has been covered many times by the people who were instrumental in the LT5s development. Re: bad maching processes causing performance variations: The LT5 was assembled to very exact standards, no...

ZR-1 Owners: What Brand of Tires Are You Running?

Rob: Well, I know that you don't ever drive your car in the rain. That being said, I think you'd be hard pressed to beat the BFG KDs. I had a set on my car briefly(they were early versions and the treadwall separated on them) before switching to Michelins and can say that the KDs were much...

    Header Selection

Happy Holidays! This has been covered many times on the ZR-1 discussion section of the Corvette Forum; I will go over it once again on this board. The original version of the "Alspaugh" header had an s-tube that was made universal for all the aftermarket exhaust systems for the ZR-1. It was...

    Combustion Chamber Decarbonizer

Well.... You can do the same thing with Transmission fluid. It's cheaper, does the same thing(high detergent), etc. I do agree with the spray idea though.. It would be nearly impossible to pour transmission fluid into an LT5 because of the design.. Put it in a sprayer and mist it in there... In...

    Cleaning the LT5

Hello all! Believe it or not, the *best* thing I've found to detail and otherwise clean LT5(the painted surfaces) is Crest With Whitening toothpaste and the softest toothbrush you can find. It's an old trick my Dad told me to try; what they used in the old days for a polishing compound(makes a...
