1991 zr-1 museum piece?
I purchased new one of the 92 Turquoise Metallic ZR-1 cars. It was a Chevrolet show car at the L.A. Auto show in 1990. This car has been faithfully taking me on many adventures, and now has over 250,000 miles on it. It has to be one of the highest mileaged ZR-1's in...
Zr_1 photo
iF YOU CLICK ON THE PHOTO, IT WILL ENLARGE. THE WHEELS ARE JUST LIKE THE EX CAR EXCEPT I PAINTED THE SLOTS TURQUOISE. THEY CAME OFF THE SER NO. 55 CAR.
Bob sweeting's 1991 zr-1 ser. No 334
car has 1989 zr-1 wheels on it with scoops painted to match body color. Wheels dated 2/1/88
car now has over 250,000 miles on it, still shreds the tires. I bought the car new, but it was used as a cherolet show car. Ppg prototyped this color on their 1988...
Zr-1 daily driver
My 1991 is one of the 92 Turquoise cars built, ser. no. 334. This car has 240,000 miles on it. It has had things like the water pump and alternator replaced, along with u-joints, and everything that spins, but the engine has performed flawlessly. It has stainless headers and a...
Brake problem
Jack it up, and check for any loose wheel bearings, especially the rear. Those masters last 10 years or more. We use them all of the time for street rod and muscle carseyand never a problem. Rotor run out caused by improper set-up on a lathe will ruin rotors, sometimes they end up...
Brake problem
It is rarely the rubber hoses. GM put on several million of them. A low pedal is either because of loose wheel bearings, or the caliper pistons are pulling back due to improper positioning of the boot on the piston. IF that is good, I.E. NO clearance between the caliper piston and...
Brake pull
The obvious one is there is brake fluid leaking on the opposite side as the pull. The wet pads have no friction. The less obvious one is that the frame has cracked where the front lower a-frame bolts onto the main frame. They crack there, especialiaaly with an automatic trans.
240,000 mile 1991 ZR-1 #334
I bought my Turquoise ZR-1 new in Dec 1990. It was 1 of 92 ZR-1's built in that color. I have loved this car so much, and taken such great care of it, that it has achieved a milestone (I think) of 240,000 fun loving miles. The car is still beautiful and runs as new...
HYDROBOOST CONVERSION
We (POWER BRAKE SERVICE) were the instigators of the use of the hydrobosst on muscle cars and street rods, many years ago. Most of these cars had bigger cams which lowered the vacuum available to produce the high pressure needed to operate disc brakes. Many cars were...
HYDROBOOST SYSTEMS
DID CHEVROLET OR MERCURY MARINE EVER MAKE HIGH LIFT CAMS FOR THE LT-5? IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT .390" LIFT IS PRETTY LOW IN THAT DEPARTMENT. THE DURATION IS NOT THAT CRITICAL DUE TO THE DUAL PATTERN LOBES, BUT THE LIFT IS WEAK. I KNOW THAT THE CAMS ARE RETARDED TO DROP...
