Tom,
Yes ! Finally found one about 2 weeks ago. Got from Vette Products in MI. I told them I’d been looking for one for about 1.5 years. He told me “Yeah, we’re the only ones that make them and we’re way behind. This is the only one we have.”
I said “Ship it !”. I got it 4 days later.
But it...
I’m putting seat covers on and can’t seem to get the seat adjuster handle off the side of driver side seat. What’s the trick with this. I can see a clip that kind of looks like the clip you would see on a manual window crank, but can’t seem to get it off.
I feel like a real idiot as I’m sure...
Thanks for your reply Tom. Yeah, that would be a good idea to actually look at one. Just need to find one now.
On another note: How do you go about cleaning the sealed one ? Just soak it in gas or some kind of solvent and let dry ?
Thanks,
Bernie O
Hi All,
I have been waiting for over a year now for a '61-'62 2x4 air cleaner from one of the major aftermarket suppliers for my '59. I want the later model because it is unsealed, unlike the one I have which is the sealed type. I was told by the customer service guy that they have no idea when...
OK I definitely decided to go the power brake booster route. I think I read somewhere that you need at least 18 in/Hg to operate the booster correctly. I just checked my car ('59, GM Crate, 350/300, original WCFB dual quads), and I have 20-22 in/Hg at idle and differing readings depending on...
Hi All,
I purchased a 2012 GS Coupe (love the car !) in May of 2021 with 13K miles on it. I changed the oil in August '21 with 14K miles on it because I was going to take a 2400 mile round trip in it. It is now Oct of '22, the car has 20K miles on it, and the oil monitor says I have 56% life...
Yeah, mainly just local drives, but occasionally will take it on a long one (went to Green Bay in August, 2400 mi r/t). Won't be doing any long ones until I get new rubber, but will have to wait until after the holidays for that !
Tuna,
Thanks again for the explanation. At some point I knew what all that nomenclature on a tire a meant, but so much of it has changed over the years I guess I need a refresher course !
As of today the tire that had the screw in it seems fine, but I'd be leery of taking it on a long trip. The...
Tuna,
Thanks for your reply. Guess I'm not too old to learn something new - did not realize the "ZP" meant it was a run-flat. So, what does the "ZR" mean on my current Goodyear Eagles ? Is that just another manufacturers designation for run-flats?
I'm not really unhappy with the Goodyears, but...
I had my '12 GS out at a car show today and a woman who also owned a '12 GS (same color!) came up to me and said "Do you know you have a screw sticking out of your right side front tire ?" Uuhh, NO I did not !! Tire monitor tells me it's not losing any pressure, but I took it home anyway Get...
Thanks Tom ! I figured you would be the one to reply and also to have some extensive knowledge on the subject!
I’m out of country right now but will attempt to bleed the brakes with my Motive Power Bleeder when I return home next week.
If I can get a nice hard pedal and a decent stopping...
Hi All,
I've recently become unhappy with the brakes on my '59. Several years ago I had a Studley's IFS with non-power disc brakes installed. My mechanic at the time used DOT 5 (silicone) brake fluid. The car seems to be increasingly hard to stop and i have to really stand on the pedal to "lock...
The paint on my 2012 Crystal Red GS is really nice an I want to protect it. I'm looking at having the front fenders, hood, and front bumper coated with Xpel film because I'm planning a long trip at the end of August. This stuff is pretty pricey. Does anybody have any thoughts, pro or con, on...
Excitable,
Thanks for the reply ! After dong a little more research I believe you are right on the dual mode exhaust function. Apparently it is vacuum controlled and when you put your foot in it the vacuum opens the baffles .
So that solves that question, but I still need an extra fob. I've...
