Well, I finally got the tranny seated this afternoon. I fabricated some guide pins, and had the wife push the clutch as my son and I twisted and pushed it in. Got with-in 1/8" and the bolts took it the rest of the way. I beleive pushing the clutch in did it. What a trick, thanks again. To...

"Transmission Hang-Up" Thanks for the input. Releasing the clutch is exactly what I'm going to do, and a great idea. Along with trying an old input shaft first to insure clutch is precisely centered. I'll let you know how it goes later today. Thanks again. George,

Trying to re-install my tranny tonight after replacing the clutch, pilot bearing. I cannot get it all the way in, seems to hang up about 3/4" from being flush with bell hsng. It goes through the T/O bearing and clutch plate ok but seems to be hanging up somewhere around the pilot bearing. I...

I'm replacing the oil pan gasket with the Fel-Pro one piece unit. Should I use silicone on the gasket or just put it on dry. I've heard just a little in the corners may be enough to hold it in. Just don't want to have to re-do it later. Any suggestions are appreciated. Desert Nomad,:confused
