Many C5s have a problem where the top of the turn signal gets cracks in it from the heat of the bulb. When it gets wet water gets in there and breaks the light bulb. Here's a video on how to fix that using JB weld. It's been many years since I've fixed mine and I haven't changed a bulb since I...
When my first set of run flats wore out I went with Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS, $700 for a full set from tirerack.com a couple of years ago. They are MUCH quieter, stickier, and better riding... I won't go back.
I've had that problem a few times, each time I tighten the nuts on the battery and it quits for months. Then they loosen up again and I get the message again. Might check all your grounds too...

I just had the same problem with my 2001 coupe! It wouldn't start for me last week. Fortunately I was in the driveway of my friend the certified Chevy mechanic when it quit completely. He said, 'looks like the sensor that reads the resistor in the key has gone bad, no problem, we can bypass it...

My 2001 Coupe A4 w/ 3.15 did a 0-60 MPH at 5.07 seconds with a full tank of gas on a rather cold day (53F) on asphalt. That's using a GTECH meter. The 1/4 mile was 13.39 secs at 110.3 MPH. I think I can beat that on a warmer day, the Goodyears don't hookup much below about 80F.
My only mods are...
I took apart the old/bad switch today. Here's some pics for those who are curious...

Both together, the large black box looks like the 'clicker' to me. The thing you hear when the flashers or signals are on.
