I emailed the assembly plant asking if they could give me more information on this issue. I was surprised to get an answer, but the answer was a "canned" response that did not answer my question and directed me to my dealer for details.

Thanks. What I'll do is check them and if they are less than 140 ft-lbs, I'll get new nuts, loctite and just replaced them and be done with it. . .

I would rather do it myself. That being said, what VIN is the first with the correction? I'd like to check my VIN to see if I even need to do anything. Or does the nut look significantly different?

I am taking delivery of an 08 this week. Should I purchase the new nuts and loctite and replace the nuts when I get home?

I guess I am a little confused as how people know that this is a problem, if there are no symptoms. Is it a problem?

I have run into this before. I told them that I could not be expected to buy a car I can't drive and walked away to the next dealer (letting them know my plan) and the next dealer had no issue with this. However, no luck on the Z06, unless it was used.

What are the symptoms of this problem? What year cars does it affect?
