They are made from high grade T-304 stainless steel. I make them to cover as much of the sill area for issues just like yours to cover faded or worn carpet. I also make some other items you may have a intrest in, check out my avatar with the underhood mirrors. I make them as well.

I offer these in stainless, some guys have them powder coated.

I think they look great, must add to the visibility of the car too!:beer

The parts are not expensive and my buddy and I installed all new. It took us three or four hours to complete if I remember correctly.

Sounds very similar to what happened with my 88 a few ago, turned out to be u-joints. If so, it could be very dangerous to your bank account if it comes apart and takes out anything in the process. Good luck.
