1992 - Died after coolant flush, now won’t restart

Is there a procedure to troubleshoot that? The ICM and coil are both right there by that bleeder too. Is it possible one of those got screwed up?

1992 - Died after coolant flush, now won’t restart

I checked and there’s no spark. What could I have done that would cause ignition failure with no warning?

1992 - Died after coolant flush, now won’t restart

I got my 1992 out yesterday and when I checked fluids, I noticed that the antifreeze looked pretty dirty. She hasn’t been getting hot, but I thought it was time for a system flush. I pulled hoses, knock sensors, the thermostat, etc and did a thorough flush of the whole system. Then I put it...

    A/C Bearing Replacement

Okay... The pulley and stator for the Ac clutch are held on with snap rings. It took a bit of tapping and coaxing, but both came off without using a puller. So far, the new clutch seems to have fixed it. The only vendor I found to get an AC clutch kit from was Auto Zone.

    A/C Bearing Replacement

The Air Conditioning Compressor on my 92 LT1 started making a lot of noise (still blows cold), so I pulled the belt off, and as I expected the bearing feels really rough. I found a link on youtube: Denso 10PA clutch bearing replacement - YouTube I doubt that's the exact compressor on my...

    Help! 1992 C4... No Start!

Hey guys... Sorry it took me so long to give you an update on this. I've just been so frustrated with the car and the situation that I'm over it at this point. I filed a police report, but that was a worthless endeavor entirely. They flat-out told me it wouldn't be investigated, and acted...

    Help! 1992 C4... No Start!

Okay... things are improving slowly but surely in this ridiculous situation. I got a good sample of what was coming out of the tank and analyzed it in a local lab. What was mixed with the fuel is a combination of a little water and household grade cooking oil. I may post a "heads up" in a...

    Help! 1992 C4... No Start!

Water! So here's an update... after checking and cleaning electrical connections with no change in symptoms, I collected some fuel using the relief hose on my fuel pressure gauge. It's almost all water. I put some in a tin can in the driveway, shook it up and threw a match in and it was...

    Help! 1992 C4... No Start!

Thanks for the replies guys... I've been out of town and haven't been available to screw with it until today. Fuel pressure is 40 lbs and holding with key on, and jumps up about 5 or 6 while cranking. I have spark, but it does seem to be a bit weak. Again, I've never used one of these spark...

    Help! 1992 C4... No Start!

I have a 1992 C4 with a 6-speed. She's been sitting for a few months, and when I got her uncovered and fired her up she ran for about 30 seconds, then just dropped dead -- as if I'd turned the key off. Now the engine just cranks and cranks... not so much as a sputter. I've had this problem...

How To: C4 ZF6 Shift Knob Removal

Thanks! I wish I'd seen this when I took mine apart the first time. I do have a question though... I recently replaced my shift boot, along with the plastic console piece that surrounds the shifter. How is the shift boot supposed to connect to the plastic console? When I bought my 92...

    Antenna Grommet - 1992

I recently replaced the power antenna in my 1992... but the rubber grommet is missing (it was gone when I purchased the car). Does anyone know where I can get one?

    Dreaded NO START HELP

Bought a spark tester... No spark at coil. Pulled the ICM and brought it to Advanced Auto to have it tested -- it took 2 stores and 5 "technicians" to find someone that knew how to operate the machine, but it tested okay, so I bought a coil. The shop that looked at it originally wanted to...

    Dreaded NO START HELP

I have a similar problem on my 92... circumstances made me think it was bad gas to start with, but pushed it to the shop (thankfully it's less than a block away), and fuel system checks out okay. They're sayin it's ignition, and pointing to the Opti (of course). Is there any way to test the...
