    correct alternator belt

Thanks to everyone who checked this post out, and I'm happy to say I have answered my own question! I finally found out that the 70amp alternators were put in 81's with air conditioning, and the 63amp alternators were only put in cars without ac. Hope this helps someone else down the road...

    correct alternator belt

Hey Guys, I hopefully have an easy one here. I'm looking to replace all the accessory belts, but am not sure which alternator belt I need. All the catalogs list two options, 70amps or w/o 70 amps. I looked on the back of the alternator but there are no casting numbers, this led me to...

Glad to hear you're from SI, I grew up in new springville and went to Port Richmond HS before moving to Jersey where I'm now a Police Officer. If you plan on hitting any of the shows in jersey (monmouth county area) drop me a line. Alot of nice people and good info to be found here. JROD

    Heater core life expectancy

Thanks Spikebot, it probably would've taken me a while to figure that one out. I'll take some pics of the process in case anyone could use them.

    Heater core life expectancy

Just a quick question, I have the interior completely gutted as part of the resto process, and I was wondering how long our heater core's generally last. I'd imagine now would be the easiest time to replace it (its probably safe to assume its the original). What do you think? :beer? Jrod

    Speedo cable

Mike, I've disconnected and reconnected my speedo cable before, and It isn't too much of a pain, depending on how big your hands are. Our speedos are still mechanical, and the cable runs from the rear of the speedometer guage, through a firewall grommet to the driver's side of the trans...

    Frame Off and Distributor Woes

Thanks for all the quick replies, I think I'm going to get the a msd distributor (#8365) and get her running as soon as I can. I'll let you all know how it works out. My 81 is coming home on Sunday and I have countless hours left to put in before she is running again. I'll make any pics...

    Frame Off and Distributor Woes

Hello all, I'm brand new to this forum, but not brand new to the corvette world. I've had my 81 for 9 yrs now, and promised her I would restore her right when the time/money allowed. I disconnected the body from the frame and then sent her out to do what I didn't have the time/means to do...
