    Tires

I put a set of Michelins on at the beginning of this year. They are indeed quieter, however I think they don't handle as well. Their tread pattern (very open) seems to be more biased toward "all season" traction, rather than basic summer (rain and dry) traction.

So...how many of us take our Vetts out if it is raining?

I used to drive mine in the rain, because what's the worst that can happen, it gets dirty, right?? Well, I stopped driving it in the rain because I found out the WORST that can happen is nearly being run over by @@#$**&^!!! soccer moms in their mini-vans that don't pay attention to the...

Has anyone dealt directly with GM HQ

I would be VERY upset about the initial damage, however cut them some slack regarding the repairs. Good paint work CAN'T be turned around in just a day or two...

How much did you pay for your Corvette

Bought my '01 coupe new in June of 2001. Paid $35K in cash, plus a '77, 42,000 mile Pontiac T/A in trade. (sticker on the C-5 was $43K)

New member here.. Please educate me!!!

When I first got the car, back in '01, and would be in city traffic, I felt the "skip shift" was down right dangerous. I almost got rear ended a couple of times, as I would start to accelerate from a traffic light, go for second, not get it, then fumble around to get fourth gear. In the...

Sorry, but this explanation is backward. The object of the skip shift, or computer aided gear selection (CAGS), is to improve fuel economy. This is done by starting in first gear, as normal, but under light acceleration, skipping 2nd and 3rd gear, and going directly to fourth. The computer...

    Decided on CCW SP500 Wheels

I've had a couple of sets of the Falkens on my wife's car. I don't know their rep as a "high performance", Corvette type of tire, but as a "sporty" tire for a Lincoln LS, I'm pleased with them.

    Decided on CCW SP500 Wheels

As far as I know, Dunlop tires are not connected with Falken. The parent company for Falken is Ohtsu rubber company.

    Code Readers/Scan Tools

I've been thinking of buying one of the scan/diagnostic tools. The Actron CP9190 seems to be fairly comprehensive, for a DIYer, yet fairly affordable. Anyone have any experience with one of these? Thanks in advance....

Along this line, has anyone tried the throttle body velocity tube that Variram makes? It's supposed to smooth the airflow through the TB.......

    Harmonic balancer (hub) seal

Worst case, if you can't find an OE replacement hub, you could install either a Fluidampr balancer or a Jegs Performance "house brand" balancer. I have a Fluidampr on my LT-1 equipped '96 Z-28.

    Harmonic balancer (hub) seal

Did you lube the lip on the seal before you installed the hub? A "dry start" can destroy the seal in short order...

    TPMS "issues"

Red Vette, thanks for the information. I think, however that I fixed the problem. Although somewhat of a drastic solution, I regretfully took off the CCW wheels, and replaced them with another wheel that will accept the TPMS sensor in an "unmodified" state. I just put the new wheels, along...
