:upthumbs Thanks Stefan! I had ordered the shop manual and the AIM book even before I took delivery of the car. I'm retentive that way... wanting to have all the info I can before I even do a purchase. The Judging manual I actually guessed at yesterday and placed an order for. I wonder what the...
Hi Stefan! Thank you! Yes, I'm quite happy with the quality of the paintwork on the car. I'm not worried about NCRS spec - the car will never be that since it's not all original anyway. Just wanted to get it as close to factory spec as I can, and have touch up available for those pesky stone...
Well... now that I am actually driving it on an almost daily basis, more digging into the bodywork just to clean up some details. The paint.. previously posted as clear over decal, ain't so. Whomever did the repaint after whatever accident it was painted the fade stripes on. It's a hell of a...
Mystery solved. I'm getting way over my head in repairs on this thing.. if I had had an opportunity and someone to do a PPI I should have done that. The car had been hit at some point on the drivers' side, at least from the door on back. The rear quarter has been replaced as well as the rear...
That's what I had thought. Actually, it isn't a bad idea, it just affects the intrinsic value somewhat. I'm in the graphics and sign industry and routinely clear over applied vinyl on motorcycles and signs that require the graphics to be protected for as long as possible.
Interesting.. that's more info than I had to start, but that doesn't answer whether the decals were cleared over from the factory or put on top of the paint. Research continues!

Now owning a CE, I had actually never seen one 'in the flesh' until now. The graphics (stripes and pinstripes) are buried underneath a clear coat.. which has me wondering if a) a previous owner did that to protect the graphics (not a bad idea, actually), b) it was in a wreck and repaired well...
Ok, got a little garage time in tonight.. pulled the socket back out, and re-checked the bulb connections. Everything seemed ok, so I started the car and hit the headlights and the turn signal... and the cornering light lit! Hmm... while putting the socket back into place with everything still...
I'll have to check that later today or tonight. I know both the running light and turn signals work, so it may be a ground to the cornering light. I didn't see a third wire coming to the socket, hence my confusion on how the power actually flows to and from the steering column to the socket itself.
Hi All,
Just purchased an '82 Collector's Edition and am starting to go through the car little by little as it sat neglected for a number of years. Overall everything seems pretty good, though the wiring seems to be a little haphazard. Nothing was added to the car as far as I can tell, but...
Thanks for the welcome, all! While not the most performance oriented cars in Chevy's lot back in the '80's, I think it was/is one of the prettiest color combinations there was. It's meant to be a cruiser and not much more and I'm fine with that. Already fixed the rear hatch issue (carefully...
Hi All,
Rick here from southeastern PA. Picked up my first Corvette - an '82 Collectors Edition - late last week. 60K on the clock and not in too bad a shape. A couple electrical gremlins and some tlc needed here and there, but I'm a happy camper. Loved the Vette since seeing the '78 Pace Car...
