I would take the alternator off the car and take it to a shop that rebuilds your alternator, that way you have the original still with the car.They may be able to test it on the car so you will know if it is bad.
There is a project that I have been watching on the internet called THE CORVETTE RESTORATION PAGE, where a guy is restoring a 73, shows every step he has taken to do it.
They don't check their e-mails, they won't answer your phone calls, and they won't be at their shop when they say they will!!!!!! BUT they will take your money!!!!
Sometimes the screws are rusted in, spray them with rust penetrator, give they a while and then try them. I think you can get replacement parts from vendors.
