    Harmonic Balancer Replacement

Yep, you're right. I just reread a section I skimmed over the first time. I'm supposed to get a flywheel holding tool to hold the engine in place when I do the final installation torqued at 250 lb-ft. Need to double check to see if my torque wrench goes that high!

    Harmonic Balancer Replacement

I'm getting ready to replace my balancer and, while going through the service manual, it says to remove the starter (?). Can anyone tell me why the hell I have to remove the starter in the rear of the motor to change the balancer? I haven't crawled under the car to see what possible reason there...

Video: 2014 Corvette - It's All in the Calibration

Rear Window Shot Pause at the 9 second mark of the video and you will see a very distictive shape of the side of the rear window. It looks like a fixed piece of the outer body with the window dropping down and then rearward. I wasn't exactly sure what this was at first. Hint: follow the...

Need help with a C5 code

Case closed Thanks, Carl. I already had that infirmation, so I ended up taking it to the dealer. They did exactly what they did last year and still couldn't get the car to start. They had to go all the way back to square one and reprogram the BCM before they could reprogram the PCM. And I...

Need help with a C5 code

During winter storage, my battery died (I had a tender on it, but that's another story). Anyway, I am getting the P-1631 code for incorrect password and it kicks in the anti-theft system so the car won't start. I had the same issue one other time, and I eventually had to take it into the...

    Sun Visors Up or Down

My wife always drives her car (the civilian one) with the visors down. When I drive it, the first thing I do is put them up. In the Vette, it's already hard enough for me to see the red light at an intersection when the visors are up (I'm 6'2"), so putting them down only makes it worse. The...

Question: Dash letter emblem inserts, sill inserts ?

Just a note to all of you who have installed, or are thinking of installing, these inserts. Please remember you are putting them on the AIR BAG DOORS. Heaven forbid you ever get into an accident in your Vette. However, if you do, at a sufficient enough speed (around 12 - 16 MPH), those air...

    CORSA Touring...pros or cons?

If you go to the Mid-America website, www.mamotorworks.com, click on the "Exhaust" category on the left hand side and it directs you to a page where you can listen to just about any make and model of any exhaust made for a Corvette. The Corsa one is extremely well done as it has idle, revving...

    Rear Console power outlet

All North American outlets are standard size thanks to SAE. The retainer will have a flange on it, so when you screw the retainer onto it, it will sandwich the plastic in the console between the two parts to hold it in place. I'm not sure if there is a cap on it or not.

Gonna have to change my name. Got a new addition

I believe most of the Corvette supply houses (Corvette Central, Mid America, etc.) probably all carry carpet dye. While you're at it, you can also pick up leather and vinyl dye, as well as touch up spray paint for the interior hard plastics. You should also put some protectorant on the tires...

News: 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition

Since the performance is somewhere betweena Z06 and a ZR1, expect the price to fall somewhere between them, as well

    Question: Your first car

The first car I actually got to drive was a hand me down 1964 Buick LeSabre. It was my mothers car and given to me when I got my license. It actually had the 265 hypo engine in it and was a 4 door coupe - it had no pillars. Moved pretty good for a big heavy car with a 2-barrel carb and had...

    CORSA Touring...pros or cons?

A few years ago, my wife & I were on a fall tour to Pa. with our Corvette club. At a rest area in Ohio, an impromptu discussion started about aftermarket exhaust sytems out in the parking area. Coincidentally, later that night on our way to dinner through the hills & valleys of Pa., our...

    So I learned something yesterday...

Key Fobs I put dots (1 on one, 2 on the other) on the back of my key fobs with a paint pen to match the settings I have in the car. If, for some reason, the seats, column, mirrors, etc. don't move the way they are supposed to, you can just push (DON'T hold) the corresponding button on the door...
