Dexcool and when to change it

Hi jnj - Like 7LiterC5 says, check the front of the condensor and make sure it is clean. I changed the fluid in my Z06 at 50k miles, the factory interval, as tuna points out, is 5 years or 100,000 miles. I have a small how-to on draining an refilling a C5 radiator...

NEED HELP WITH EXHAUST ON 2003 Z06

Hi Ironranger30 - On my 02 Z, I have LG headers and no cats. We moved the REAR o2 sensors to the front location, and the original front pair of sensors are removed. The tune eliminated the rear sensor messages. The tuner also needs to eliminate the "slow sensor response" codes that will...

    Transmission Fluid

Hi c4c5 - My mistake - I thought it was Dexron 4 - wasn't there a change and the factory started using something else in the C6 manuals? best regards - mqqn

    Transmission Fluid

Hi minifridge1138 - That is correct, as this is just an enhanced formula of the Dexron III, and it retains the viscosity characteristics of the original. best regards - mqqn

    Transmission Fluid

Hi glide - You are talking about using gear oil in a trans desiged for low-viscosity ATF. Just asking for trouble there. Use Dexron III or equivalent ATF. It takes ~three quarts. best regards - mqqn

December 2006: The Web of Deception

Hi Folks - I always consider the source of information - particularly when it comes on the web. Since winding road never had any credibility with me, is there such a thing as negative credibility? I remember the speculation regarding the C6 Z06, it was fun, but never became malicious...

flush and fill cooling system - 2003 z06

Hi donny - I just open the drain cock and let 'er drain. Then refill. Not the most effective way, as some gets left in there, but if you do it regularly I think it is fine. I don't have not flushed the system on either car. best regards - mqqn

    1/4 mile times

Hi seefivezeeohsix - My best is a 12.8 @ 114 - 2.2 60' time. Street tires, cai, headers, tune. Still working on that very low 12 that I know it can do. best regards - mqqn

    Stock '02 Rear Wheel HP

Hi Bonnell - Also here is a directory of pictures from my visit to LGM this past May - http://www.iammoon.com/images/vette/LGTrip/ and a couple of pics of my LG's best regards - mqqn

    Stock '02 Rear Wheel HP

Hi Bonnell - Cat back systems are a highly subjective matter. There is not much appreciable performance gain, but rather "sound sculpting" to match the ear of the owner. I think the very best system is the Z06 Ti catback, and these can routinely be found for ~$400 plus shipping. LG...

    Hitting rev limiter

Hi gcm - Not that I can tell - I have bounced off it many times in my z, and no deleterious effect has shown up in 47k miles. I will be replacing my valve springs soon though - just as insurance against a broken valve spring. The limiter is there to prevent you from spinning the engine fast...

    Stock '02 Rear Wheel HP

Hi Bonnell - Thanks for the nice compliment! RE: Lou Gigliotti Motorsports - I drove down to LGM to get my headers from central Illinois. I wanted to see the place, meet the folks at LG, and I love road trips. Plus, they only charged $400 to install the headers AND tune the car on the...
