Help! 69 Overheating - Big Block

Same problem for years I had the exact thing happening on my 72 big block. Tried everything like you did. At the time I was running a Mallory dual point distributor with mechanical advance. Awesome distributor BTW. I decided to start going in the NCRS direction 5 years ago and replaced the...

    High temp 454

Quite a while back I posted a question about my 72 454 with A/C overheating sitting at stop lights or stuck in traffic especially if it was a warm day. I ran into a 68-72 NCRS judge here in my home town and talked about my situation. He wanted me to put my original distributor back in and remove...

    Differential fill plug

Thanks eveyone!! I spent the last few days and cleaned all fluid from the differential and inspected it carefully. I didn't see any major cracks but the diff was painted 16 years ago so it may hide a hairline crack. I found that it is definately coming from the fill plug area as this is the...

    Differential fill plug

72 differential fill plug seems to be leaking. It takes a 5/8 open end wrench on plug but no room to swing wrench ( because of spare tire bucket and half shaft). Is there a tool out there that I can put on my ratchet ( socket/ crows foot or otherwise) to remove without taking spare tire bucket...

Did an early 72 ( October 71 production) come originally with the T3 headlight bulbs ( triangle with vertical lines ) I think the GM #4001. Or did they come with the GM powerbeam bulbs. I think that GM # is 6001?

    huge backfire through carb

Not exactly sure about the 427 heads part but you can get original style dated braided plug wires at Paragon for $130.00. The thing about the original plug wires is they have the exact angle at the plug so there is a better gap between the headers and the spark plug wire end. Take your R44 XLS...

    huge backfire through carb

If you are using the large tube hooker/ hedman headers use the NGK YR-5 spark plug with the original style braided plug wires. You will never cook another wire again.

    Factory Alarm

When I first got my 72 the alarm didn't work. After alot searching and testing with a meter I found the wires from the drivers door switch to the relay had slightly heated together and shorted. These wires are found inside the rear wheel body mount access cover. After cleaning, separating and...
