    Help! Battery Dies

I had the same problem with my 82. Then I started getting this "rotten egg" smell in car. I didn't put 2&2 together at first. I happened to check the battery when I got back from driving it and discovered the battery was so hot that it burnt my hand! Had it checked out and replaced it. The...

    Help! rear wheel bearings

I've got a "rumbling" sound coming from the back, could this be wheel bearings? The sound was there before I changed the rear end(2.70-3.54) and at that time, changed all the u-joints. I notice the sound is still there.

    Value of 86 Vette

Boys/girls Club of my town is having a fund raiser auction tomorrow. I see they have an 86 Vette on the auction. I don't know anything about the Vette, just saw the picture in the paper. What would be the high/low value of an 86, or would there be to many variables?

    82 Vette trans. 'jerk'

I think this has been posted before, but can't seem to find the thread. I have an 82 Vette w/42K miles. When putting the transmission into drive, it jerks, not a 'soft' engagement. Even idling 5-6 hundred rpm, it has this jerk. I'm the 3rd owner, and I'm pretty sure the previous owner did...

QUESTIONAIRE: -tell us why you personally have a C3-vette (conv. or coupe, SB/BB)...

Always wanted one. I told my wife(than girlfriend) that someday I was going to own/drive a Cadilliac and a Corvette. So here I am, many, many years later, driving one of each. Friends wonder if I'm in midlife crisis driving the 82 Vette, but my wife reminds them that he always wanted one. Of...

    Power steering problem-82

Thanks for the help. I've got the factory service manual. It looks relatively easy to do. If that doesn't work, I'll just replace it.

    Power steering problem-82

I didn't change the ram myself, but I thought the guy who does my work mentioned about getting the air out of the lines. If he didn't get it all out would it still eventially work its way out? The control valve was the next thing I was going to try and check out. Or would it be better to just...

    Power steering problem-82

It has always steered hard for having power steering. The pump was checked and it was pumping ok. So I decided to change the power steering ram. When we got it out, it was pitted pretty bad. Installed the new one. Now while driving it, when you turn it , it doesn't want to come back to center...

    Side Mirror Question

My drivers mirror on my 82 is the same way. It looks like you have to start from the inside and take the mirror off to get at the screws-lot of work. I thought about applying a little clear caulk around the two pieces to help stablize it.

    Change rear gear ratio-cost

What would the rpms be at 70 with the 3.55?

    Change rear gear ratio-cost

I think that I could add that to my "little" to do list for this winter. Since I have most of my work done by a friend-at his garage- the other half would never know the difference, just general repair work, etc. being done!!

    Change rear gear ratio-cost

    Auto-no choice in 82

    Change rear gear ratio-cost

I have an 82 with std. rear end. I thought about having it changed to a higher gear ratio. Now it is only turning 2K @ 80mph. I know that I would sacrifice gas mileage, but I don't do over the road driving and would like a little more snap driving local. What ratio would be good to use, and if I...

    Power steering issue

I've got the same problem with my 82, no leaks. I'll have to try the Lucas product, not much to loose if it doesn't work.

    1980 Passenger Seat Question

I've got the same problem on the passenger side with my 82. My W is only 5'1", and she feels like she is laying down. For quick fix, I have a towel that I put between the seat bottom and back-fully adjustable- I put in enough towel till she says it feels right. Works every time. I just remove...
