    Engine stops

Sorry guy, that was a misdiagnosis, I was trying to go off of memory from October. The engine is the only thing that stops, everything else stays on. I fired her up today for the 1st time this year and diagnosed it. The engine does not stumble or anything just stops. I hit the ignition and...

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Where would one go after that step?

    Engine stops

Hoping someone can help me with this. My 81 has developed an issue, the engine just stops, if it is idling and it happens it just dies, no stumble no nothing, kind of like it is losing spark. If I am driving at the time it happens, the motor stops but will come back in about a second, seems...

    T-Tops

Well, I broke down and ordered the Mirrored Tops from MidAmerica. Cost $1,100, but they look good. I ordered them on Monday with standard shipping and they arrived on Thursday. MidAmerica sent them complete and with very good adjustment procedures. Thanks for all of the feedback and advice.

    T-Tops

I am looking for the forums experiences and recommendations for replacing my T-Tops, the passenger side glass is shattered (quite a traumatic experience). I see them posted on ebay once in a while, but would have a very tough time relying on a picture to pull the trigger on a purchase. Thanks...

    Question: Timing my 81

I had this exact issue with mine. The remedy was to replace the vibration damper, It is a common problem with the small block Chevy engine. With age the rubber gets hard and the damper slips causing the timing mark to move. My problems were resolved after changing the damper, the timing mark...

    I'm SO Freakin' Frustrated!!!!

Definitely check the timing mark on the balancer, when I changed my intake I had the same problem. Came to find out that the balancer had slipped due to age, small block chevy engines are notorious for this. I changed the balancer and set the timing problem was solved.

    Emmisions Removal

They make vacuum caps/plugs that can typically found at your local auto parts store. They come in a variety of sizes. My ride found quite a bit of extra horseys after removing all of the emission equipment.

    Rear End Gears

I had the same problem with mine, it seemed that when I jacked it up, rotated the wheels and let it back down and drove it the sound went away for a while, but it always came back after driving it for a little while. It was the bearing in the drivers rear. Not saying this is definitely your...

    Rear End Gears

One easy way to check and see if the bearing is going bad. Drive the car for a short distance and cautiously feel the rim by the lugnuts. If it is hot in comparison to the other rims, odds are that the bearing is bad. When mine went out I removed the entire trailing arm assembly and send it...

    Quadrajet jetting

I concur Peter. How is your project coming along?

    Quadrajet jetting

Got it fixed! With a litttle guidance from my uncle the mechanic. It wasn't the carb at all, somehow the harmonic balancer must have moved a little bit and the timing mark is off. We set the timing by ear and kept adjusting it until the hesitation was gone. What an incredible difference...
