Be Cool: Common Pitfalls For The C5 Owner, And how To Avoid Them

It only took 2 years to notice, but shouldn't that be 345 to 405?

    lambo doors on a vette?

Oddly enough, those doors were the most normal thing about that car and owner. ;LOL

Question: DIC / Active Handling Warning?

From page 4-11 in the manual (for 2001): When you first start your vehicle and begin to drive away (6 mph (10 km/h)), the message ACT HNDLG WARMING UP may be displayed in the DIC, the instrument cluster light will be on, and a chime will sound. This is normal. You can acknowledge this message...

Question: What's the best lettering option?

I bought some from AutoTrimDesign, direct link here. I went with the reflective black. They look good, but I couldn't make them stick. I cleaned off the wax as best as I could, but never could get them to stay. I bought those same letters for my VUE a year or so earlier and those look and...

    C5's Post Winter Wake Up

I took mine out last Saturday. If all goes well, I'll take it out tomorrow too.

How Do You Tell Them Apart

The '01 and up also have chrome exhaust tips from the factory.

Noise after ignition is turned off

Is it the normal noise that you get if you turn the ignition off while in neutral, with or without the clutch engaged? Mine will "rattle" when the engine stops if it isn't in reverse.

    "You Drive a WHAAT!?"

Most of them say: "Why do you need 3 cars?" (my answer being: they are my "wife" and "two kids") :boogie Some of them say: "Did you trade in the red car?" (the red car being my '99 Saturn coupe, which is treated just as well as my C5, and the answer is no) Others say: "I'd hate to pay your...

    C5 purchase advice

Personally, I'd go with a 2001 or higher. Click here to see why. I really can't think of a reason why the older ones would be more expensive, other than maybe special paint colors or first year of the new model. Well, the fixed roof coupe was only available prior to '01 as a non-Z06, that...

    What to do about Insurance?

$1400 a year just to add the Corvette? That is pretty steep, it sounds like you need to do some shopping. I have to pay the "young and single" tax on my policy, and mine went up less than $800 a year. And since I store the car for a few months, I only pay about half of that when I drop...

5 yrs and still on stock batt

My car was built in November or December 2000 and as far as I can tell, the battery is stock. I know that it has not been changed since June '03, but it's possible that it was prior to that. I'm fairly confident it's the original. It is on a trickle charger when in storage. I took advantage...

    The Black Wheel Trend

Speaking of Darth Vader, he looks good in all black. He would look pretty stupid with a chrome helmet. :D p.s. I know, you are Darth Vetter, not Vader

Red? Yellow? Silver? NAH. LET'S SEE THE BLACK BEAUTIES!

And THAT is why my Corvette hasn't left the garage for a couple months. Where is "Corvette Protective Services" when you need them? :D

    The Black Wheel Trend

Not a Corvette, and not black, but... I've always liked these wheels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:30th_Anniversary_Trans_Am.jpg The car isn't bad either ;) I agree about the black chromes, a good compromise. If you want rice, you need primer color wheels. :D The wheels on my Saturn...
