Never seen an '81 with anything but a chrome lid...

A nice '81 is a $14k-$18k car all day long... Super clean low mile originals would be in excess of that... Unless you get very lucky (possibly like the OP), under $8k is usually a pretty rough car... OP - good luck with your car; post up some pictures!

I registered over here back in early 2012, but have never posted on here... Anyway, here it is! The car currently has around 38k original miles and is mostly stock with the exception of a Magnaflow true dual exhaust kit and the paint (2010 Lincoln White Chocolate Tri-Coat).
