    Rattle!!! ARRGGG

I took my '03 convertible to the dealership for this same problem. My noise was from the right rear. The dealership replaced the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. I never would have guessed the hub assembly was the culprit, but it fixed the rattle. Good luck

    Engine Wash in C5

I've been using a water hose on my '03 for 4 years. I figure if I can drive it through a rain storm with no problems then a low pressure water hose won't hurt it.

    Headlights dim semi randomly

I've taken my C5 to the dealership for this very problem. The dealership said, without any real explanation, that this was "normal". I have 22,000 miles on the C5 and so far no problems.

    Opening A Can Of Worms

I currently own 3 convertibles. Have you ever owned a convertible of any make or model? Convertibles are a different animal than coupes. Some people love convertibles and some people hate them. Do you have any friends or neighbors who own a convertible? If not, can you visit a local Corvette...

    Happy Birthday C5 Corvettes!

With the introduction of the C6's does this mean we're oldies but goodies? I'm enjoying my C5. It turns 4 years old next month. I believe it's just now hitting it's stride. Most of the clunky stiffness in my six speed shifter and transmission have seemed to improve with the miles. Either that...

    Need Tire Opinions

I replaced my factory Good-Year EMT's with Kumho ECSTA MX's (run flats) after 20,000 miles. The Kumho tires perform and ride equally as well as the Good-Year tires at less the cost. The Kumho tires do seem a bit more noisy. I prefer EMT's because I like to find out of the way open roads where...

When did your "C5" Clutch Go Out?

22,000 miles on my original stock clutch. I'm running 500 rwhp. Still running strong. I was caught off guard the other day. A 'Stang GT decided to play. I hadn't noticed him come up at the light. I was busy scanning for tunes on my stereo. By the time he revved his engine and the light turned...

The Book: All Corvettes Are Red

I got a chuckle out of that. :) My wife likes black. We have an '89 black IROC-Z convertible that she loves. I told her I would buy her any year or model black Corvette to replace it. But noooo. Hey, she's happy and I'm happy. Works for me.

The Book: All Corvettes Are Red

Thanks Eric. I found a couple of other things interesting as well. The cold and hot weather testing that was done. Engineers sat in either cold or hot soaked cars and timed how long it took the environmental systems to get the passenger comfortable. Wow, now that's taking one for the team...

The Book: All Corvettes Are Red

Just finished the book by James Schefter, All Corvettes Are Red. Interesting reading. The most poignant to me was the question from Dave Hill, "Anybody here for seceding from Midsize Car division and starting our own Corvette company?" I'll hand it to Dave Hill. Without his perseverance the...

    C5 "NORMAL" OPERATING TEMPERATURE

Correct. A thermostat's job is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. By installing a cooler temperature thermostat the temperature at which the thermostat opens is sooner. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. Once the engine reaches...

    C5 "NORMAL" OPERATING TEMPERATURE

This talk about thermo's reminds me when I was about 12 years old. My Dad showed me how to check a suspected faulty thermostat. Water boils at 212 degrees F. Put the thermo in a pan of water on the stove and light the burner under the pan. The thermo should open before the water starts to boil...

    C5 "NORMAL" OPERATING TEMPERATURE

I had my factory thermo replaced with a 160 thermo. I also had it retuned during my last dyno run. Around town it makes no difference at all. My C5 runs around 200-210 all the time. :) Save the Wave

    Z06 headers any HP gain?

I agree. The whole point in headers is not only hp gains but allowing your engine to breath more easily. Easier flow gives extra hp as an added side effect. Go for long tube headers, X-pipe, high flo cats and an upgraded exhaust system. All perfectly street legal. When I had my last state...
