Obviously someone has painted the engine and pad. Be very careful when removing the paint to not scratch the surface underneath as the factory broach marks are just as important as the stampings and almost impossible to replicate.
The 420 horsepower you mention is measured at the flywheel whereas the 330 horse power you mentioned was at the rear wheels as measured on a portable dyno.
330 horsepower at the rear wheels sounds about right.
The engines in these cars were built to run on 87 AKI fuel which is equivalent to about 84 RON which I've never seen in the UK .If you need 98Octane to avoid detonation either there's something wrong or someone has modified the engine.
