34 year old and looking better than ever... (major paint cleanup)

Well I've been wanting to repaint my 78 SA vette for a long time because the original paint was pretty much shot. It was heavily oxidized and my bonding strip lines are in full view. However, I don't have $5000+ bucks for a paintjob and part of me didn't want to get rid of the orginality of my...

    Uh oh! Possible head gasket?

Thanks for the input. I'm going to try and clean the area good and let it run a bit to see if I can really pinpoint the leak. It's a manual trans but I'll definitely look at the expansion plug. I doubt the engine has ever been apart, I know it hasn't since 1982. I'll also do the compression test...

    Uh oh! Possible head gasket?

I was replacing the plugs and wires on my 78 L82 SA and all the plugs looked ok, old but OK, except for one, the #8 cylinder was a bit fouled with oily black residue (all the others were whiteish brown). the engine ran fine with no misfires but based on the coloration, something was up. I...

    Daddy's little helper

Not too many. She was more in the "Let me do it" mode, although she did point to the lump and said "That's what makes the corvette go vroom." Liking the idea on the Christmas Card for sure :) Depending on the timing, I may have to take another picture with our next future Corvette Driver who's...

    Daddy's little helper

So I decided to pull the alternator last night so I could replace it with one that works (except it doesn't because the case is off 90* but that's another story) and my 3 year old daughter decides she wants to help. so she pulls up a chair, stands on it and gets armpit deep into the engine bay...

    Question: Rochester QJ set up

Glad you're on the mend. Hope you decide to do it and do one in the Houston area. I'm sure between all the different forums, you'll get a lot of takers from the area :) Count me in for 2 vettes :) Hope to see you soon!!!

    Question: Rochester QJ set up

When are you going to have another Tuning for Beer tour? I can have a few cases of Shiner Bock for you if you come to the Houston area. :thumb

    Passenger Seat Removal

If the PO put a nut on it (as mine did) there should be a way to put a socket or something on the nut. If that won't work, put a wrench on the head of the bolt and lock it down with a clamp or vicegrips to somehting (seat frame?) and drill the head out. The bolt should then fall through. And...

Help! Tail lights wont turn off

Crap. Should have read the question more thoroughly. LOL!

    Window crank removal.

Like Tim said, it's the same clip. Try coming at it from the other direction. if it was like the PO of one of my vettes, they put it on backwards.

Help! Tail lights wont turn off

Check the brake light switch under the dash. If you replaced everything, you may have bumped the switch or something. if the switch isn't set right, it will not engage and turn off.

Photos of The Viking Lounge & Corvette Workshop

Is it bad I want to sell my current house just to buy one with a bigger garage? Love the mancave Lars!

Future Corvette concept based on 1959 Roadster

My guess is that's why he's a former GM designer. Looks bad, and not in the good way

    Barn find advice

Man that is a beautiful vette. Doesn't look like you'll have to do any paint/bodywork.
