LT-1 Engine noise cold, Piston Slap?

There are articles on the internet about both LS1 and LT1 piston noise, there is an actual sound recording of normal (quote from gm) knock, it is loud, and it is a hammering noise not a lifter tick, just by the way it changes with engine RPM indicates to me it is piston noise, and it can be...

LT-1 Engine noise cold, Piston Slap?

I recently had my 1996 LT1 in for a knock cold, the dealer explained this is a normal piston noise and not to worry, all knocks worry me with the cost of repairs these days. Anyone have thoughts, or maybe the same situation with their LT1? I should mention the noise is gone after a few miles of...

Question: Magnaflow exhaust compared to Stock 96 LT-1

:confusedDoes anyone know the performance gain of replacing stock exhaust on a 96 with a Magnaflow Cat back system, the sound is great, but is that it?

New Magnaflow "cat back" installed.....Sounds Awesome!

Magnaflow verses stock 1996 LT-1 I have read something that said the only advantage over a stock exhaust compared to Magnaflow is the sound, does anyone know more on this subject? I have a bone stock 1996 LT-1

Is a 1984 CFI with 80,000 miles a good starter Vette?

I got in on this thread late, but here goes, I restored a 1984 Z51, it was a freebee, ran ok, but everything else was worn out, it was an interesting project, learned how to fix the digital dash myself, balanced the throttle bodies, which I considered an easy job, a little time reading the FSM...

    Question: LT1 Starter replacement

I just replace the starter on my 96 LT1, the Solenoid contacts were nearly burned through, the car only has 57,000 miles on it, is that normal? most other GM cars I have had never needed starters, even after 100,000 plus miles. I repaired my old starter ($9.96 for contacts from Iowa Motor Parts)...

    Front cover

Crank Hub Repair Sleeve The sleeves are an acceptable fix, they work great when installed as per instructions, also some times there is an offset seal that rides in a different spot on hub, I prefer these, but I doubt they are avail for the LT1. I am a retired GM mechanic, we always sold new...
