Stupid, stupid, stupid me.
Finally figured what was wrong.
I had the rear cable bracket up side down.
Changed it, and the job is done.
Actually the shifter is much more positive than ever before.
My stupidity aside, it works great.

I already looked at that post yesterday, but it doesn't address the problem I am having.
I didn't have a problem installing the cable, just getting it adjusted so the rear end of the cable snaps into the lever on the trans.
Even though I adjusted it in both direction...
I just joined the forum,and hate to start out asking questions, but I have a problem, and don't know how to resolve it.

I have a 2004 c5 with auto trans, and am replacing a broken shift cable.
It is all in place,connected to the brackets...
I recently bought a 2004 c5 convertible and it needed of a new shift cable.
I bought one, and am having a problem getting it adjusted after the install.
The shifter, and lever on the transmission are both in the neutral position, but the cable at the transmission end is about an inch or so...
