Stupid, stupid, stupid me. Finally figured what was wrong. I had the rear cable bracket up side down. Changed it, and the job is done. Actually the shifter is much more positive than ever before. My stupidity aside, it works great.

Thanks Roy for your reply. I already looked at that post yesterday, but it doesn't address the problem I am having. I didn't have a problem installing the cable, just getting it adjusted so the rear end of the cable snaps into the lever on the trans. Even though I adjusted it in both direction...

I recently bought a 2004 c5 convertible and it needed of a new shift cable. I bought one, and am having a problem getting it adjusted after the install. The shifter, and lever on the transmission are both in the neutral position, but the cable at the transmission end is about an inch or so...
