1959 black 270hp (9/2/69) 1981 Beige L81(10/20/80)
I remember this car from Rod and Custom magazine and the show circuit of the mid 60's. As soon as the 1963 model hit the show rooms they were being customized. Rod and Custom did whole issues dedicated to custom Corvettes and especially the new 63. Full custom wild show cars of this type were all the rage back then. I see several changes from the original configurations such as side pipes, wheels, instruments and steering wheel but customs evolve over the years. I'm glad that the chrome chassis still is in place including the chrome brake drums. To fully appreciate this car you need to look at it through 1963 eyes. If you were not a young car nut back then you probably will just not get it. To modify this car in 1963 was no different than taking a C8 and changing the wheels, installing a wide body kit, wing and spoilers, carbon fiber do dads ect. today. They were just new Corvettes and anyone that could get financed and pay the insurance could have one.
