Do you install the radiator support, radiator, and shroud before or after installing the body? It seems like it would be easier to install prior to the body but I also think it might be difficult to lower the body with them installed.
What is the best adhesive to use when bonding metal parts to SMC fiberglass? I'm in the process of adhering the metal reinforcement brackets to the front of the fiberglass hood surround.
The can of Evercoat SMC bonding adhesive warns against using it to bond metal to fiberglass. The original...
Thanks for the information and tips. I thought putting the body on after the engine would be the best way to go but it's always nice to get confirmation from those with experience.:w
I'm in the process of a frame off restoration (don't know why they call it that since it's the body that's off the frame) and I need to know the easiest way to put things back together.
I pulled the engine to rebuild it and thats when I decided to do a complete restoration. I completed the...
Have you removed the spindle yet? If not then you will need the tool to press it off. This must be done before you can remove the bearing support.
As for the rounded off bolt... I suggest using lots of penetrating oil on the threads. Let it soak as long as you can. Then if possible use...
I have a 75 convertible and I don't have anything like that on mine. I'm guessing its something aftermarket. If your car was built for export to Sweden it might be something to meet your country's standards at the time.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Eric
I have a 75 convertible and I'm restoring the car to NCRS specifications. I want to replace the exhaust pipes and mufflers with original looking parts. My problem is the only suppliers I can find are back east. Does anybody know of any suppliers on the west coast that can meet NCRS specs?
You really should have the windshield removed and then inspect the entire frame. Those quarter sized spots could be the beginning or a bigger problem. I removed my own windshield not long ago. Good thing that I did because I found several areas of rust that needed to be treated. I used...
Jeff,
After confirming the fuse is good then I suggest you check to make sure you have power just before and after the switch. Once this is done you have eliminated two main things. Now check to make sure the horn functions. Once you confirm it is working you can also substitute a test light...
Okay the time has come and I need your assistance. The question is: Should I paint the body on or off the chassis? There are pros and cons to each way but I'd like to here from those that have actually done a frame off restoration; or even those of you who know someone that have chosen one way...
The NCRS judging manual states that the valance was painted separately from the body so it would be safe to assume the bolts are unpainted.
I'm restoring a relatively unmolested 75 convertible and mine were unpainted.

I'm restoring my 75 convertible to NCRS specs and need a few OEM parts. NOS would be great but used will work if they're in good condition.

2 tie rod end clamps with bolts and nuts
2 front stabilizer bar...

Well, I searched the archives and couldn't find an answer so here goes.....
I'm rebuilding my steering control valve. I took numerous photos as I disassembled it and now its time to reassemble. Problem is that I don't believe it was assembled correctly by the last person and the kit I bought...
10 leaf spring
Thanks to all of you for your assistance. I checked the NCRS manual and found that the ten leaf spring is standard, they even listed the GM part number.
Ed, Thanks for the referral to Voluteer Vette. Where/How can I get in touch with them? Or does anybody else know where I...
Does anybody know who manufactures the replacement liner material for the C3? I have a 75 convertible that came stock with a ten leaf rear spring. Paragon and Corvette Central sell liner kits for 7 and 9 leaf but neither sells anything for the 10 leaf. Both list the 7 and 9 leaf as being...
I've removed the old bushings and had the arms refinished and have all new bearings and bushings to install. I have the tools for installing the spindles and bearings but the bushings are giving me a hard time.
Does anybody know a tool that is available to install the bushings? I know GM...
I'm restoring my car to factory specs and need to know from someone that has an original car if the upper and lower control arm (A-Arm) shafts are painted or natural finish. The NCRS manual is specific about the finish on the Control Arm, bolts, and retainers but doesn't specify the shaft. Does...
