    Valve adjustment, spitting back,

If they came loose once, I would check, and replace them! Though I have had the stock setup of rockers and nuts on and off many times without this happening, pulling the valve cover to see will tell you for sure. How many miles are on the lifters and camshaft? I replaced my rockers with Power...

    Pre-Cut Carpet Cut wrong!

I had some trouble with my carpet, I have a 80. Seemed to be short in some areas and buckled in others, a friend came over with his heat gun and "warmed" the back side of the carpet up and with some tugging and pulling it turned out great. Watch the heat, you can melt the carpet with a good heat...

    4500 RPM... something's wrong

Thanks for all the ideas guys, it turned out to be a fuel pump! I changed it out thursday, and in 2 days I have run a tank of gas out of it. I think its drinking the stuff now, the old pump must have been going bad for a long time. But anyhow, it runs great again!

    4500 RPM... something's wrong

I put new 373 rear in my 80 over the winter, now when I go WOT somewhere in the 4500 rpm range the car falls flat on its face, like its running out of fuel. I replaced the distributor, coil and module, after the problem started, and no resonse, the same thing. The motor has about 7000 miles on...

    82 rear pinion/u-joint replacement

They are tough to get at, the 12 point bolt is used so that you can use a 12 point wrench with little turns. As Blue said it is much easier to go from the tranny end in with a socket, I also changed bolts to the 6 point for the same reason. If your using old bolts, don't forget some thread...

    Heater won't turn off!

Good OL chevy astro vent heating system, Ryan has a great tip on checking the valve, but the fan still runs every so little on chevys in those years. I just unplug the power from the fan in the summer, to stop the hot air from blowing. If you turn the key on and listen on the passenger side...

    Strut Rod Bushing Help

From the pictures it looks like aftermarket bushings where already installed. I just put a pair in my 80 that look just like them and I used the factory washers with them. The bolt was loose in the bushing the same as yours, but the little flange on the washer, fit inside the bushing to tighten...

    Rear gear change

Thanks for the info guys, I'm still in a toss up over the 3.54, or 3.73's though. I guess I will just have to pick one and try it.

    Rear gear change

I'm looking for some imput on changing the ring and pinion in my 80 C3. I'm thinking the 3.54, or 3.73, but I would hate to change to the 3.73's and find it is geared to low for my turbo 350 tranny! Anyone make the change? Whats your likes and dislikes on any of the combo's. How about RPM's...

What can I do to firewall to stop the heat when my engine is out?

I used COOL IT Thermal Tec wrap on my exhaust starting from the manifold flange the hole way back to the tranny mount, it made a huge difference in the temp inside the car and floor. I didn't do anything to the firewall, but couldn't hurt. The stuff smokes for about 5 min. after you start the...

    Rear swing arm removeal

Forget the soaking, SawZaw, not even worth the effort to try to get out, if the bolts don't come off easy, they need replaced. Stainless bolt and shim kits are cheap and everywhere, it takes 5 min. to cut a bolt, look how much farther ahead you would be if you just cut them in the first place. I...

Wheel Lug Nut Bolts Broke Off....

You should be able to pop them out with a brass punch without removing anything but the tire, look close at the assembly, some where you should be able to turn the spindle to a spot that the stud can be punched thru the back side, and put back in. The only thing that would make this not...

    Q-jet woe's

No I don't have the computer controlled model, would the float level change from just adjusting the idle mixture screws? I got rid of egr valve, and plugged all unused lines. Even my secondary kickdown seems to have lost some punch, checked the linkage, and the openings, and everything seems to...
