why would you do that? Ignition wires carry D.C.
The failure of a stranded wire (where the surface of each individual strand starts to corrode - thus insulating one strand from the other - causing capacitive reactance - which will start to attenuate audio signals) only affects A.C. ... not...
I tried to read your link, but it wanted me to register.
"Register" just to read a post ???
wouldn't it be more accurate to say "according to this particular source... there is no real benefit to usage of nitrogen."
thanks. I was in dis-beilef too. So I ran again and got a 12.97. That night - all the best conditions were there. Track prep was excellent, air temp was in the 60's. I was geting all the launch I could get out of stock runflats and a stock TC. That was in the fall of 2004.
Best I've done...
I powerbrake launch @ 1300 to 1400 RPM in my A4. I can't hold it back at any higher RPM.
Here's my best 1/4 time with the followign mods:
*3.42 rear axle ratio (still using factory TC and tires)
*Predator tune
*Z06 titanium mufflers
*Z06 airbox lid
*K&N drop-in OEM filter
here's my experience.
When changing rear axle ratios in my C5, my biggest concern was traction.
Although I had owned 1970's era muscle cars with 4 speed manuals, I got tired of shifting and sliding all over the road (when making a wrong throttle or gear choice). Nowdays, I prefer a...
hear's a quick-n-dirty way to calculate C5 rpm changes when upgrading rear ratios:
from 2.73 to 3.15 (add 15% to any given RPM)
from 2.73 to 3.42 (add 25%)
from 2.73 to 3.73 (add 37%)
from 2.73 to 3.90 (add 43%)
from 2.73 to 4.10 (add 50%)
from 3.15 to 3.42 (add 8.6% to any given RPM)
from...
that's crazy. You can buy the new style seal and anerobic sealer for under $35 and do it yourself.
FYI:
Carrier tranny center-shaft seal (A4): 24207010 $10.96
Seal Plate O-ring (A4): 12369456 List $10.75
aluminum 6" seal plate (A4): 12369457 List $51.00
The other seals are:

rear gear choice is personal.
But many will tell you that with the A4 C5, the 3.42 is the best "all around" ratio.
If you frequent the dragstrip weekly and a timeslip rules your life (and that is a great life to live)... then the 3.73 or 3.90 ratio and a high stall converter may be the better...
don't let me sound like I'm bashing the G-Tech or other similar devices.
They're great for street practice and doing A-B comparisons (before mod - after mod).
Though, I've run into too many Mustang and import owners bragging about a (too good to be true) 1/4 mile time... only to find out later...
Head & cam gives the measureable HP improvement, but that only occurs at a narrow RPM range.
I think one notices the improvement of gears more because the benefit is felt at all RPM's and in any gear (even overdrive).
But for racing and 1/4 mile times... I'm sure the H&C & headers are the...
With my stock 2002 A4 and 3.15 rear ratio (only mod was the Z06 airbox lid), I was able to get consistent 13.3x
powerbraking at 1300rpm.
I wouldn't, though, brag about those G-Tech numbers BEFORE going to the track (and proving it). I've never met anyone that was able to duplicate the...
you will ?????
I had this much off my 2002 and not one drop of diff fluid was removed:
and it won't take this amount of disassembly to replace just one boot.
to change the boot, there is no reason to get inside the carrier.
