How about this.... Rub it with a scotch-brite pad, clean it and use a flat black paint pen. If you're careful you probably don't even need to mask.
Try the local hobby shop for the paint pen.

There's really no reason to buy anything but a really nice car in this market. I looked in my area (west coast) and found a nice looking 93 with 70K miles asking $7500 and a couple nice looking mid mileage 95-96s in the $10K range.
I'd save another couple thousand dollars and start looking at...
I had an 89 with a similar problem. Mine wouldn't idle well at times and sometimes it would stumble and die at idle.
Two cheap things to try... Pull the throttle body off and clean it really good and pull the idle air controller (the thing on the bottom with the plug) out and clean it too...
I had this problem on my 89 years ago. It turned out to be the MAF burnoff relay. There are two relays on the firewall behind the battery if it's the same as an 89. Try replacing both, they're cheap.

I had an 89 as a daily driver 8 years ago and now have a 90 as a weekend car. I love C-4s, but I'd never depend on one for a daily driver unless you can walk to work. I sold my 89 and bought a honda. I'd say get a year or two old honda civic and then get a C-4 when you can as a toy car. I...
I used very fine steel wool on all the unplated or unpainted metal parts and a little bit with a dremel tool with a scotch briteish bit for the A/C compressor. I probably wouldn't use the steel wool on the alternator, but it works great on the A/C compressor, lines and fittings, suspension...
I would definitely start by pulling the throttle boday off and cleaning it out. It doesn't take much gunk in there to start messing things up. You could start by just taking the intake duct off and wiping out the bores and the throttle plates as well as you can with the TB on the engine and...
I found a bunch of water in the back of my vert. The deck kept popping open on it's own, so I pulled up the carpet and it was full of water. The wiring for the deck was completely submerged. I ended up drilling a couple small holes in the low spots to let it drain out. I also realized that the...
The basic problem with the Bose is that the amps are in the speakers not the head unit, so you have to replace the speakers with the head unit and you have to run new speaker wire since the wire in the car is too small to power normal speakers.
You can get a rebuilt original Bose head unit...
That's not a bad price, but I'd still try to get them down a bit. I'd still look toward a 95-96 with the better optispark and the newer interior. Also, not having a CD might be a problem if you want to put one in. Putting an aftermarket stereo in a Bose C4 is not a simple task. That is a...
Sounds like the injectors are your problem. I used the design III rebuilt injectors here, 22 lbs/hr....

Price is good and the car runs great. It's not too bad of a job to do yourself.

I'm not sure if the 84s have vats. You have it if you have the little chip imbedded in the key. You can take the key to the dealer and they can test it and tell you which chip you have and then you can get a bypass kit from ecklers.

You might have a fuel injector that's on it's way out. You can check them by removing the little connectors on each injector and checking the resistance across the two pins. It should be 16 ohms.
My 90 with 40K miles had one at 14 ohms and one at 12 ohms and it idles at lot smoother with...
I had an 89 and had problems at idle. It would stumble and want to die every couple times I drove it. It turned out to be the two relays that are behind the battery on the firewall. One is the MAF burnoff relay and I can remember what the other is. They're cheap. My mechanic insisted that...
Here's my 1990.
Anyone know where I can get a new one of that part on the right rear of the engine where the white insulation is split open? The dealer computer shows they still have the 1989 part, but 1990 is discontinued.

I just changed the clutch master and slave cylinder on my 1990 with 39K miles. The slave was leaking. If the clutch hydraulics get weak the clutch becomes difficult to disengage, kind of the opposite problem. I'd make sure the clutch master has fluid, it's on the firewall near the battery...
