Would the 2" exhaust (which is really 1 7/8", if you use the stock exhaust pipes from Corvette Central, I believe), be too restrictive for your high HP engines? Or would this be a minimal HP loss?
Check out this C1/C5 SRIII chassis setup on ebay:

I wonder how much SRIII sells this setup for? It's got to be more than $11K.
Get some 15x7 Rallye rims and weld the nubs on them to fit the stock wheel covers. I'm sure you could find a custom wheel shop to build this for you. Then sell your stock wheels for good money on Ebay.
Here are some more pics Jeff sent me (see links below) comparing the 1310 strap yoke to the 1330 strap yoke (commonly used for with the C2’s and C3’s) as well as to a 1330 solid style yoke (commonly used for the C1’s). The 1310 strap yoke is ½” smaller across the diagonal than either of the two...
Tunnel-fit seems to be a reoccurring problem in some of the installations of the Tremec 5-Speed in C1s, C2s and C3s: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1189270 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1171619 It seems the problem stems from the Tremec being...
Ditto. I love seeing and reading about the Solid axle race cars, and the stripe would be a nice tribute. Perhaps 2 or 3 white circles with the number 57 inside would be a good touch, too, like a race car.
There is a company called US Gear that makes a new posi unit that I understand will fit in a standard open carrier.

I think it runs around $400. I'm sure it would be quite a bit stronger than an original posi, too.
Corvette Central has a service which will "refinish your housing, re-polish SS trim, and re-assemble the new aluminum insert" for $165.00 for 58-59, $195 for 60-62. Sounds worth it to me, given how tough a job this is.
Billy's site is www.corvettecorrection.com. Confusingly close. If you pull up the www.corvettecreation.com website, you'll see a body and chassis style from an outfit in Georgia, similar to the one now being sold by a guy from Louisiana on ebay from time to time. Formerly, there was a company...
Side mounts would interfere with the stock steering column. Here's one option:

In my book, however, that's too much to pay and still have the stock kingpin suspension. For that kind of money, you could be well on your way to the purchase...
Of course it's easier without the body in the way, but it shouldn't be too much harder with the body on, as you assemble the entire unit together on a bench, before bolting it up. Here are the installation instructions:

I'm still in the middle of a body-off resto, so I haven't had a chance to drive it yet. But the installation was pretty straight forward, and it looks pretty trick when done. Here are some pics of my chassis:

Seriously, it's nice to see the competition. We as consumers are winners when we have choices. If someone else was selling a bolt-in C1 front suspension when I bought mine from Jim Meyer, maybe I would have saved a little dough.
