I have a vibration in my’86 coupe that has 79,000 miles on it that I cannot find. It acts just like a tire that is out of balance. I can feel it all the time and it becomes stronger as the speed is increased. It’s really not very noticeable until you are above 60 mph. From there it gets...
I am afraid you missed my point of the Bilsteins changing the handling characteristics and stiffing things up so much that for street purposes they were in my opinion worse than the no names. Yes the springs and stabilizer bars are stiffer with Z51 but in combination with the Bilsteins the...
My response is neither. I have an '86 with Z51. When I purchased it five years ago it had some no name tire store shocks on it. The RPO codes show that my car was originally equipped with Bilsteins so I figured that’s what I should put on it so I ordered a set and specified with Z51. I'm...
Please help. I'm looking at a '97 with, F45, selective real time damping. This one only has 35,000 miles on it but it is 12 years old. Any concerns with this syspension? I understand it is very expensive to work on if needed.
I'm used to my rock hard '86 with Z51 and I love it. Will I like...
Where on a '97 is the build code list located? I looked in the glove box and the console compartment and didn't see one. I general have found them on the door to the glove box but they were newer models.
Thanks
The old method of servicing an automatic was simply change the fluid and replace the filter. Cost about $60 to have it done. The new way is to have it flushed and pay about $175. Do you really gain that much? Is it worth the bucks?
Thanks
The best way to tell if it has Z51 is to look at the list of build codes. Mine is an '86 coupe and the list is in the storage compartment behind the passenger seat. I understand that it is also on the lid to the console storage compartment in some. That's the sure way. The sterring wheel turned...
And that's not neccesarily a bad thing to a point. I have found that at the speeds I drive on the street a little compliance in the suspension actully improves handling. If it's too stiff it kicks out on the slightest bump.

I have a set of Bilstein shocks for '84 - '87 with Z51. They have at most 300 miles on them. Cost me $300. they are yours for $200 + shipping or make me an offer. Thanks, Ron
Turn your steering wheel all the way to one direction then turn it back all the way to the other side. If it is 2 1/4 turns from one side to the other you have Z51 if it is more you do not. You can also check the stroage compartment behind the passenger seat. There should be a list of options...
