    shorty headers

Burglar, I have a set of block hugger headers. Tried to put them on my '63 but the sidepipes wouldn't swing in far enough to match up. If you have an under car exhaust they may work. I'm just down I-83 in York. Classic

    Street cars of the '60's

There seem to be some people here who were around back in the "day". Back then, in real life, how did the 427's fair against the cobra's? Were there any other cars that would give the vette a run for it's money? Most would agree, as do I, that the vette was the best all around package, but I'm...

What would a midyear be like today?

Actually, the car I was thinking about couldn't be built by GM or any other maker nowadays. The gov't wouldn't let a car like that even come close to making it to the streets. Too bad though. Classic

What would a midyear be like today?

The inflation thread got me thinking. What would a midyear be like if The General used today's technology to build one? How light would it be? 2500lbs? Less? A computer controlled aluminum 327 or 427 without smog equipment.:eek I guess they would have to do some work on the aerodynamics unless...

What would a brand new midyear cost you today ?

Corvettes might have been one of the priceier cars in the '60's but they were still affordable for the average guy. My Dad got out of the marines in '62 and promptly went out and bought a '61 Corvette. Not too many guys nowadays are buying a '01 fresh out of the service. Maybe they are, but back...

How much have you spent on restoring your Vette, to date ??

$17,000 for the car 3 years ago. About $55,000 since the wreck.;shrug :SLAP :duh I know, I know.... Classic

    Insurance Company

I have to agree with the agreed value statements above. Take it from me, if you do not have you vette insured properly, it will bite you in the butt. When I demolished my '63 I got more runaround and aggravation than money. Dealing with crooked adjusters(isn't anyone on the level when it comes...

    '66BB engine numbers

What is the diameter of a 427 piston? He still has the pistons from the rebuild. How do I tell if the engine is externally balanced? What would I be looking for? Thanks, Classic

    Trim and paint codes

Thanks guys. His car has headrests, but I'm sure those were added later. Classic

    '66BB engine numbers

Wow, is he going to be p!ssed! I was there when the restorer told him it was a period correct 427 that was very similar to an L-88 clone. I wonder if that is why he had so much trouble with engine. The mechanic thinking it was a 427 might have been using the wrong parts? Thanks, Classic

    Trim and paint codes

Doing some legwork on my step-dads '66 I am getting more questions than answers. On the body plate under the glovebox the "trim" is listed as 450BA. I know 450 is white/blue int. but what is the "BA" for? Also, the paint is listed as 976AA(nassau blue) What does the "AA" mean? I also noticed...

    '66BB engine numbers

I'm trying to find out exactly what engine is in my step-dads '66BB for him. I know it's not the original 427, but other than that I am lost. I did notice that the pad is blank. The #'s I did get are: driver's side, rear of block: 3999289 alittle farther up are the letters "conv" and...

    Original Car Alarm

The alarm on my '75 was about as frigged up as a football bat. I figured the car should have intermitent wipers since it had an intermitent alarm. Could've been worse, I could've had a f*rd with intermitent engine and transmission.:D The last time we worked on it, I recieved a "slight tingle"...

    trying to get some horsepower.

Headers first, headers second and headers third. Then do what you want.:D 2.5 or 3" straight pipe all the way back to a good pair of "turbo" style mufflers. Then you will get full benefit from any other mods you do. After headers, the only criteria you have is, how much do you want to spend? :D...

Is it possible to be more beautiful?

It only gets more beautiful when it's red, with a black racing stripe over the "split' and with big fat flares, like mine.;) Classic

Hooker Sidepipes and angle plug heads

I have a 327 with edelbrock aluminum straight plug heads and the hooker headers. A couple of the plugs are tight for clearance. I doubt the angle plugs would help that situation at all. Classic

    Corvette Desireability Chart

impala, yep there are a lot of people smoking crack when it comes to prices and condition of some of these cars. I begrudge no man a living, but don't expect me to put your kid through med school because you have a '63 gas cap for sale. Too many people are just in it for the money, instead of...

    What are the odds?

"every moving part of the engine was replaced except the camshaft..." I'm no mechanic, but that seems a little odd, doesn't it? So much stuff has been replaced on that car, I can't see how they can justify the price. It is nice looking though. Classic

    Corvette Desireability Chart

Solidlifters, when I read your post, I heard a little voice in my head saying "Danger Wil Robinson, Danger, Danger!":D Any desiribility list would have to have some parameters. There could be several lists. Which cars are most desirable for NCRS, specualting, pleasure of driving, cool factor...
