Yep....sure is hard to get the parts right the first time ....Huh Rich...
Mark,
Just saw your post on your latest experience. On the good side this is the type of thing that builds strength of character or so I've been told. ;LOL
It does make you wonder if they have more than one length...
A private auction sounds like a real interesting idea. Some folks though might not be comfortable having competition the first time they see the car. Maybe an individual preview, so they can look the car over carefully without other potential buyers looking over their shoulder, would help put...
I used insulated pod lights on four separate circuits so I can turn on just the group(s) needed. I spent quite a bit of time figuring out the right number and location of the lights to avoid shadows. They have worked out real well.

Don't know if it was the same ones or not. I've since been told that you could get matching VIN's for a certain contribution to a charity that year and I know that Chip Miller had one with a matching number (last three digits) to his 53. Looks like there were quite a few "one-offs"! :D In any...
Ran into the same situation here. One fellow even suggested inserting a glass bottle in the floor and skim coating cement over it which would later be broken out for the drain. I thought about that (for a second!) and decided it would likely be a problem if we were to sell the home later on. I...
Charles,
I finally had a chance to get the magazine and ready the article last night. It does make it sound like your part was much less than I know to be the case. I guess they got a little carried away with the unusual aspect of a wife having been so deeply involved in the construction of...
Larry,
That is one of those jobs where you need to be wide awake and in a good mood to tackle. :eyerole The upper and lower stainless surround pieces are crimped and usually tacked to the aluminum insert. The insert itself is very thin and can easily be dented or bent. As I recall I used a...
Earlier tonight a 53 was auctioned along with a matching (color combination & Vin derrivative) one-off 50th anniversary C5 as a package. It brought $550k as I recall!
You would think that the 53 might have been worth something in the range of $125-150 and the C5 something in the $75-100 range...
For those of us with snow, freezing temperatures and hibernating Vettes I came across this auction for something to drive during this time of year:

The Northeast is in pretty much the same situation but I ran across a Vette that just might make it through the winter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6168&item=4522277308&rd=1Rich Lagasse
Larry,
The car belongs to Charles and Carol Bernhardt who we met in Carlisle a couple of times. Real nice folks and they did a great job on their car. He is building another one now. I don't know if they are CAC members or not though.
You are right about John Z's tech articles. His are the...
Those are good suggestions. I once had the woodworking equipment in the rear of the garage and it was tough to keep the cars clean. I ended up building a separate two room woodworking shop. The idea of a wall, or maybe a retractable curtain, would really help if their both in the same area...
Dennis,
Great looking and sounding car, great job! :upthumbs and a super video. Looks like you might have scared the heck out of the dog. :Steer Was that the police coming around the corner behind you?

You might find sources for knock-off wheel restoration from several places such as the NCRS forum, the NCRS Driveline or from speaking with Vette restoration shops. The shops should have sources they can recommend or possibly they would do them. Mail-Order suppliers such as Paragon may also know...
A friend of mine from Australia is planning on getting a trailer and asked for some things to look for. In case this helps with your choice this is the message I sent him. Some might be additional information to what's already been posted while other suggestions are pretty consistent to what's...
