    Help! 1987 upper control arms

These spacers might need to be exchanged to get the caster and camber adjusted correctly. I'd suggest putting them in the same place you found them. Let the alignment shop tell you if they want them reversed. You will be having the alignment done by a good shop when you finish, right? The...

84 crossfire cuts out when warm

I'd suspect a vacuum leak, too. Are the many bolts around the top of your throttle body mounting plate tight? This is a common area for leaks. Since the IAC valves are stepper motors, I really doubt they close when you shut down the engine. They want to be at about the right spot when...

    Question: fuel pressure regulator ??

You need to trash that book if that's what it says about your fan relay! Is that the same book that says .035 for your plugs? Do you have an Owners Manual for your '85? My '84 OM says .045 gap, and I suspect the very talented woman with the computer at O'Reilly's got it right, so you...

White smoke / pools of gas in intake (84 Crossfire)

Need more details. I've got more questions than answers: Is the fuel six years old, or have you purged all the old gas? Did you change the fuel filter? That's a good time to purge the fuel line and check the fuel pressure. Pump fresh fuel thru the fuel line by putting a hose on the line...

    1985 Corvette Electric Fan Problem

Sounds to me like a sticky relay or sticky temp sensor to me, too. Any luck yet? When the fan continues to run and the engine temp is below 180*, try disconnecting the temp sensor. If the fan keeps running, you have a relay problem. If the fan stops running, you have a sensor problem. I...

    Question: 1985 Corvette

Netnarc2, I'd like to answer your question, but I won't. You need to start your own thread, rather than hijack Ronnov4You's thread. You should only be on this thread if you have a comment or a suggestion for Ronnov4You. Please. :ugh

    New owner

There is a light sensor in the upper left corner of your dash panel, in the small square window. During the day, shine a flashlight into this sensor. The dash should get brighter. If it doesn't, you may have a bad sensor. This is assuming the four light bulbs in the dash are okay. At...

    cooling fan??

Your best choice is #1 above. If you really want a switch, put one on the green/white wire to a good ground. This wire would be a low power connection, so you can use a small switch. This presumes you have confirmed the relay and the relay socket are okay. Do you have 12 v. on the red wire...

    News: A/C switch lessons - early C4

Just to be clear, Mike, you do realize the switch shown in your photo is the "a/c pressure switch" shown on pg. 8A-149 in your elect. manual, and is the switch that activates the radiator fan relay when the a/c is turned on (presuming your a/c is operational). This must be a N.O. (normally...

Question: New to me 93 ZR1 Corvette very very loud

Before you roll under your new 'vette, be very sure the car is securely supported on good jack stands. Do NOT rely on your floor jack to hold your car while you roll under it! Can you see any markings on your mufflers? You may be able to see markings on your mufflers without raising your car...

    88 Acrylic Roof Panel

I'm sorry you've had difficulties finding my thread on another forum. Here's the procedure that worked for me. I'm very happy with the results, even though it was a lot of work! Don't use any RTV, as they aren't permanent fixes. I did this procedure several years ago, and I've had no...

    88 Acrylic Roof Panel

You didn't say whether you'd been able to find my procedure. If you have questions about my procedure, please ask about my procedure. If you have questions about GM's procedure, ask them! What makes sense to you? Sporadic bonding? Do you want sporadic leaks and bond failures?

    88 Acrylic Roof Panel

I responded to a similar post on the Corvette Forum. Do a search on Dow Betaseal U-418 to find the procedure I used on my '84. That was quite a while ago, and my re-bonded roof is working fine! :blue:

    1986 Corvette Rack n pinion

If you want the same as what you have now, count the number of turns from lock-to-lock. That's the difference between the two choices. :_rock

    Lug Nuts on 1986 Corvette

Your lug nuts do have plastic covers. They will unscrew easily with your lug wrench to expose the real lug nuts. When you replace the plastic covers, don't use very much force. Just snug will do. (I guess we shouldn't be too surprised to see this on a plastic car!) :eyerole

What size tires to put on 1986 Corvette

The width of the rims are marked on the inside. What have you got? The rear wheel wells of the later 'vette's are larger than your '86, so be careful if you're considering wider tires, if you have the wide rear rims.

    Question: Sticking headlight

I couldn't find an answer for you on this forum, so here's a link to a thread on the CorvetteForum.com website: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...placement.html This shows both the gear repair, and mentions the cleaning of the limit switches, which I suspect is your problem. :cool

    Question: Driver's headlight not lighting

The fuselinks are never connected to the car body. They are near the battery in the 12v supply circuits. Exactly where did you find the loose connection? :cool

    Question: Sticking headlight

This is interesting: garyg has an '88. Larry and 93PoloGreen both have '90's. All of these 'vettes have the late style headlight motors (which have the manual control kno.b`s on the top of the motors. Cormorant71 has an '87 with the early style headlight motors (which have the manual control...

    Question: Driver's headlight not lighting

I would suspect that your '87 headlight wiring is the same as my '84, but I could be wrong. My '84 FSM wiring diagram shows the two headlights are wired in parallel, directly to the dimmer switch. There is only one circuit breaker for the two headlights, which is at the headlight switch...
