I mean the shiney rocker panel trim along the bottom side of the car. I know years ago we put the Hooker set on a '64 and had to cut away quite a bit of the rocker panel trim at the front. The mounting tabs for the lower mounts of the rocker panel are not an issue for me. This is an older set...
Thanks Jim. I still need to know if there's any chance of mounting the Hooker Side Pipes without cutting the rocker panels. It doesn't look like it. I'm ready to cut :ugh
Any fender area that must be cut for Hookers is covered by rocker panels anyway. Oringinal GM sidepipe cars had the fiberglass trimmed to fit as well I understand. I just would like to see a close up of the front rocker panel area with the headers installed.
A GM dealer may have them but any good auto parts store will, and I don't mean crappy tire. Take a sample. The "Pico" line is VERY good for any electrical terminal you may need. Pico even had the very latest terminals I needed for my fuel injection convertion that gm did not have. Pico does have...
No problemo Paul. Thats perfect. Now you can just use a razor to slice the shrink tube off and slide those terminals back into a housing if/when you find one, If you didn't hack the "tit"ed oem terminals off. If those oem type terminals are damaged they are easy to souce, I keep them in stock...
Paul, in this case you could just un pin each terminal [you may want to draw a diagram for yourself first] and plug each female spade directly onto your switch. You may also want to shrink some 1/4 shrink tube over each terminal for insulation. Then when you do find a connector housing you can...
The nylon/plastic connector housing that the wire/female spade connectors slip into. They are retained by a little tit that is released by inserting the paper clip into the front of the housing at each terminal.. Use a little wd40.
Hey Paul, Sorry to appear argumentative but solder and shrink tube have their place. I was in the auto electrical industry for many years and when one looks under a dash and see's a lump like that it's always a head shaker. In this case its probably easier to do it right and looks a lot better...
Yes I'm sure the big guys got rid of all the stuff long ago. I like hitting the hillbilly trailer park kinda guy. It would be nice to get a new one tho. I took a minute and googled the pn#, didn't get too far.
Maybe John Hinckley has a line on that stuff. It's out there. If you find them I'll...
Have you tried GM for a part# of the connector housing? Then google the pn#. It would be interesting to see what you could find. The harness manufacturers get them from some where. Those days it was the Delco-Packard division of GM. If you could find a 65-66 chev in a wrecker it would be worth a...
Thats an old school way to 'perform the lowering technique' but one must not forget to set blocks to the ride height that you want so the vehicle will settle to only the desired height, and remain uniform from side to side. :ugh
Thats interesting, John. I always thought that they were a relative newcomer into the game. I thought in the mid 70's? just started hearing about them seemingly trying to muscle in on Hursts manual trans controls market. The shifters weren't as good tho. Then they kinda jumped to automatic...
