All of the GM records for production are stored next to the Ark of the Covennant in a vast wharehouse somewhere in the mountains of Colorado. No one knows where it is. You can get some production numbers on a number of Vette websites but if you want to know how many cars of a particular...
"Werner and his staff do first-class work - he's a retired GM engineer, and a fellow Michigan NCRS member. We have our annual NCRS Christmas party (about 100 people) at his shop next Friday. :)"
This sounds like the kind of shop that I would like to find to work on my car. The NCRS is a fine...
I think you should find out what you need to get the engine running and the transmission operational. I assume the goal is to have a car you can drive and enjoy. The drivetrain is the most important aspect of that goal. If not you are going to have $7500 invested in a car that won't go...
I have not had to deal with this issue as my original console is in place. Saying that, the console does not appear to support the guage cluster, it almost appears as though the shift consle is suspended from the guage cluster. The metal reinforcement may just serve to support it if the new...
It depends what you are looking for in the car. I don't think that the performance difference is noticable and if you are driving a 35 year old car I don't know how wise it is to test its upper limits. Chrome bumper vettes are desireable but they cost more. Later years 73-77 are great cars...
I have not used the Motive Pressure bleeder but I have tried a Mity Vac with some success. My vote though is for the speed bleeders. I installed them several years ago and they work like a charm. They are especially good for a one man bleeding. Install them once and then just open them and...
I would be wary of advice from your mechanic who thinks there is an exhaust manifold gasket leak when there is no manifold gasket. It tells me that he is like many other mechanics who are parts changers and have no diagnostic skills. They will continue to change parts until they get it fixed...
If you still have the original tires on the car I sure hope you are not driving on them. They are not safe. Tires have a useful life of about 5 years even if they are not driven on. The fact that the sticker is faded away should be telling you it is time for new rubber. Old tires like that...
C3 Corvettes are unique cars and as such they must be serviced by pros. Ask here and at local Corvette Clubs for competent mechanics. That will be the best thing you can do or you will risk the inexperienced mechanic replacing parts until they stumble upon a solution or you run out of money...
If you have lower bleeders I would not touch them. They should be plugs. They serve little purpose since air will rise in the caliper the top bleeders should be sufficent to bleed properly. If they don't leak leave them alone only bad things can happen if you try to loosen them.
Your car certainly does sit too high. Do you have an AIM? According to the 1970 AIM the ride heights are as follows:
Front Cpe with A/C 28.28 inches w/o A/C 28.49 inches, This is measured from the top of the wheel well to the ground. It may be different for different years but not much.
I...
With all the changes made to the electrical system it could be anything. Could be the viper alarm, the remote seleniod, or your aftermarket sound system. Who installed them? Did they know what they were doing? What is the quality of the installation? Has Bubba been in there?
The...
I would be careful with the tach cable. It may be disconected because the shaft gears are worn. If you grease it up it should go into the distributor with no problem. If it does not go in easily don't force it the teeth should mesh together with little effort no matter . It may not work of...
Hey Vette Kid nice video. What color is your vette? From the lighting in that video it looks pink. I know that is not factory color unless it is a Mary Kay car. LOL
Seriously what is the actula color?
Wash it and vaccum it that's all. Take it to an NCRS meet and have it judged. Too bad he didn't speak up sooner since NCRS just had their National meet in Marlborough, MA. The judging will give the experts a chance to tell him exactly how the car is and what it needs to be returned to...
You need to replace the hose and get the correct hose that is moulded to not hit the bracket. If you get the correct hose and the problem persists I have seen this solution.
Take your old hose and cut a piece off and fit it over the new hose at the point where it hits the bracket. Cut a...
The previous posters have the right idea "Drive It" then see what it needs to be safe and work on those first. I see you live in Ontario, that means you will have plenty of time to work on it over the winter. The more you drive it the more you will be motivated to finish repairs for the spring...
