Sounds like you've about found and solved your problem! :happyanim:

Question: What can cause a cylinder misfire

I'll just address an ignition misfire. I'm sure others will chime in with mechanical causes. This is where an ignition oscilloscope would come in handy. The most likely cause would be failure/fatigue of the secondary (high voltage) ignition circuit. This starts at the ign coil & ends up @ the...

    Eliminating the Catalytic Converter

I take it your carb is the original. Might be rebuild time? Even if you do rebuild it, they tended to lean the crap out of the mix on those 'electric Q-Jets' as they were the beginning of the 'electronic controlled lean years'. The C3 systems can be problematic for good drivability. Oval track...

    Eliminating the Catalytic Converter

Sounds like a winner Racerone! Another benefit with the cat gone, you may find a cooler temp in the cockpit, as those cat's run hot and hold the heat! Give it a rap-n-rev and bang a couple gears for me! :cool!:

    Eliminating the Catalytic Converter

To answer your question: The only part of the C3 (computer command control) system in the exhaust is the oxygen sensor. It's upstream from your cat converter. Replacing/deleting the cat converter will not effect the C3 system. As preventive maintenance and 'while-your-at-it' suggestion would be...

Question: 69 vette with air blockage in radiator

I never trust dash gauges for their accuracy. I like to take temp readings at the radiator itself with this tool: Pelican Parts.com - Radiator Temperature Gauge Don't start this test with a hot engine, remove rad cap from a cool engine, insert tool, start and let the engine come up to...

Going Back on the Dyno for More HP!

I knew that, just paying compliment! Actually, black with a red stinger hood is my fav combo on a C2! If you feel up to it, I'd like to read an update to your C2 resto thread as to your final comments on how everything turned out. How was the test drive, happy with engine output. What you...

    Axle bearings

Never received the bearing races in hubs yet. And like you, I also thought that the bearings and races were matched. It's just an assumption after receiving them together as a unit for decades. Could have been somehow tolerance matched prior to the CNC days? I'd only heard of plastic bearing...

Question: BRAKES: Gravity bleed vs. Pump and Hold

I'm a 'suction bleeder' with the mighty vac. Always worked very well for me. Never had the patience to gravity bleed. I've had pressure bleeders also. But for me, it's just another tool that has to be refilled, drained and cleaned out after the job. No matter the method, I like to use a piece...

    Axle bearings

As I've read almost countless threads on this subject over the years, this has been one of the more interesting ones. I file the slip fit in the personal preference slot. I guess what ever you can live with that gives you peace of mind. But damn Hib, I just couldn’t go 10-20 years without an...

400 Valve body and pan bolts

I agree with the above. I go to fastener specialty companies for most of my needs. Here's my fav, if it's any assistance. Welcome to Mid States Bolt Screw :beer

    Brake fluid change

I my case, not necessarily true. DOT3 glycol-based brake fluid starts to absorb moisture from the time it is installed in the system. It actually arrests the moisture and contains it. This property is desirable to help keep the moisture in check during service life. Moisture will enter the brake...

    Help! Cruise control

I would verify that it's a factory unit. Get a name off of one of the components. The NCRS guys could verify that it is a GM supplier, hence a factory unit. If it is, then used/new parts would be much easier to come by. The T/S-Cruise stalks can be easy to replace, it's just snaking the wires...

    Brake fluid change

Just going to add to this post with some additional experience. The P.O. of my Vette had used silicone brake fluid, and bragged of how great he thought it was. I didn't have much experience with it at that time, and proceeded to read on the subject. The brakes worked OK, but seemed too spongy...

    Help! Cruise control

In light of what you've described, I tend to agree with SVO, in that your cruise unit is a possible aftermkt unit. I don't remember Chevy selling a GM brand cruise unit over the parts counter 'in-the-day' either. I worked in Chevy, Pontiac, Olds and Caddy dealers, and never installed one as a GM...
