    a sad day

Sorry to hear it has to go, Barry. You did a lot of work to it. I'm sure it will sell. I marked it on my EBAY page. Good luck. Chuck

    progress pics

NICE, John. I agree about the powder coat too. It's cheap to do when you consider the cost/time to sandblast, prime, paint, etc. "Round these parts" :) , powder coaters offer 10 shades of black from 100% gloss, to 100% flat. Chuck

Part it out or rebuild as a street rod?

Hmmm. I don't know, Barry. That's the kind of car that if somebody GAVE it to you, you'd have second thoughts about restoring it. With the risk of offending someone, I'll say that 76's aren't worth a ton of money "done". Costs as much to restore a more valuable car as it does to restore...

NICE Day With BarryK And His Club Yesterday

Those are the first trophies I've won at any NCCC show in decades. :) I never win anything, not even at my own club's shows. I usually either get nothing, or a certificate saying "Thanks For Coming". :) The old 69 ran great on the trip up and back. Had to stop for gas on the way home. I...

NICE Day With BarryK And His Club Yesterday

Had a real nice day yesterday with Barry and Linda K, and his fellow club members from the CC or Northern Delaware. We met up at the York County CC show in Emigsville, up near York, PA. After the show, Lance Miller (Chip's son) led a caravan of the CCND members up to Carlisle, PA for a...

    Price for re-plating?

A little knowledge (on my part :) ) is a dangerous thing. Let me say that there are several different styles of luggage racks. They differ in the placement of the holes drilled in your rear deck. It MIGHT be tough to find an identical replacement rack with the mounting holes in the right...

    Question on AC

Hi Barry. It's my understanding that R12 is no longer made in this country. Has to be imported, legally or illegally???, I don't know. I do know that it is EXTREMELY expensive, because you can't get it easily anymore. I also know that you or I can easily obtain a "license" to buy it...

    Rusty bolt clean up??

You can probably find a bulk plater to to zinc in your area. They usually charge "by the pound" for what they call "bucket plating". They throw the bolts, washers, nuts, etc. into a gizmo that looks like a butter churn. Immerse it in the solution, the churn turns, exposing all the surfaces...

    Rusty bolt clean up??

Whatever medium you use to clean bolts/nuts, the problem afterwards is that you remove the plating/coating. Many/most of these fasteners were zinc/cad, black phosphate/black oxide plated. With the plating gone, they rust in an instant. If you want to re-use fasteners, you've got to clear...

Update 63 Project - Road to Top Flight...

63's are unique. There are so many running changes that what someone tells you is "correct" MIGHT NOT BE correct for your particular assembly date. Drives you nuts. The 63-4 JG has many errors in it. Many, myself included, have tried and tried to get the errors revised, but lots of the...

Intake Manifold Installation - End Seals

I'm no expert, :) , but I use the black rubber seals provided for the front and rear, THEN I put a big "dab" of black silicon sealer in each of the 4 corners. If the intake leaks oil, it's most likely from one of the 4 corner areas. Chuck

    Price for re-plating?

Recently had all 4 midyear bumpers replated. Cost? $275.00 each. $1100.00 for all 4. Librandi's in Harrisburg, PA did them. EXCELLENT work. Chrome plating is getting very expensive because of EPA regulations. Chromium is very toxic. Arsenic is also used in the nickle/copper plating...

    Rocker Stud

Excellent. :) It's simple. I believe I mentioned that I ended up doing ALL 16 studs in my 63 that way, after "my buddy" at the machine shop INSISTED that I replace the originals, and that he had NEVER had a stud pull out. Well, I proved that scenario to be false, and I told him so...

How to get the KH knockoffs off!!

Besides the aluminum or steel pins that have been mentioned, I've also seen Allen Head set screws used. Tell your bud to stop beating on the wheels. Pop of the center cover of the spinner and look for these pins or screws. If they're there, remove them as previously stated. Original KO's...

    Stump da Chumps

Can you tell if it's the stinky, thick 80-90 wt. gear oil, or motor oil? I had a leak in my 63 for years. Thought it was a rear main bearing seal. Turned out to be the front bearing retainer on the Muncie. Dirty motor oil? I'd check the oil pressure lines, the valve cover gaskets, the...
