    Important! C5 Column Lock debunked

Just watched the video. Great info. I have a 98, the recall has been done. Car is an auto and the column doesn't lock anymore. I am currently getting Service Column Lock. Car has 90k miles and an Optima Red Top that was installed less than a year ago. The car was just driven on a 5 hour...

    My New (to me) 66

I figured out the compressor is shot. Gotta order a new one, or take it to a specialist. It's full of refrigerant so it probably makes sense to let someone else change it.

Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

I'm getting my policy now with Adam at NCM. I have USAA and when I added the car to my policy they warned me and suggested I get collector insurance. They referred me to a company they work with and it was higher than Adam. I'm doing and agreed policy with him at 55k. The same policy with...

Power steering install - interesting find

most people bolt them but you can get the rivets and rivet them again. So... maybe yes, maybe no. There are probably guys on here that know codes of original parts.

    3rd clock rebuild?

Mine is broken and I have just done a bunch of reading on them. The rule of thumb based on one thing I read is that if you go mechanical they will only last approx. 2 years. This came from a watchmaker. I'm going to save the guts and go quartz.

Question: 1959 painted white with red coves?

2931 corvettes were ordered with the 2 tone scheme out of 9670 total cars made. So chances are they aren't original. They do look good so I'm sure lots of owners have them sprayed to their taste. Just like there are lots of 62's with painted coves even though none left the factory that way.

    My New (to me) 66

I can feel the clock gears, and lack of gear teeth, when trying to set the clock. I was just looking at the quartz conversions after doing some research. It's low on the list so maybe next month on this after the rest of the odds and ends are fixed. Tach makes sense. hmmm... I did find...

    My New (to me) 66

Ok, I see now. I drove around some yesterday after I finished the brakes and inspected some more. Rain was coming so I had to park it. I noticed the compressor main wire is unplugged at the compressor so either it was stuck on because of the switch or it's broken. I would have messed with it...

    My New (to me) 66

not sure on factory or not... there is a compressor on the original 327 and another installed (probably because the belts didn't match and the refrigerant was expensive/hard to find). what is installed seems like a version of the vintage air setup. However, the temp control isn't separate I...

    My New (to me) 66

My right one is labeled AC. There is another below the steering wheel, I think, that does the floor and defrost. I just played with it and got it moving in and out again. The car is jacked up, half way through a caliper change, so we will see tomorrow if it kicks on!

    My New (to me) 66

so it seems it should just pull in / out like the others do but not turn. Mine is stuck in one position and the bezel is loose. hmm. It would be really nice to find out that the only thing broken on the AC is the switch itself

    My New (to me) 66

This is my new 'vette. 1966, 4 speed, side pipes, numbers matching engine is on a stand... currently has a 1995 LT1 in it. Anyone have problems with the A/C knob? Mine seems stuck. I assume it pulls out to be on, push in for off? The prior owner didn't know anything about Corvettes, put...

Tell me about the Copper Metallic Paint Color on the 1994

I don't quite understand this reasoning. The unusual colors have always sold less than red, black, and white. You can pick any year and find that there will be the big 3 and the rest of the colors make up the rest of production. Carlisle blue is a good example. I like the color but don't...

    90 L98 idle speed adjustment

Get a scanner and check it first. It should be 650 I think, from memory, so don't hold me to it. If it's high but runs well otherwise my gut says you have a vac. leak. They are the most common reason for a high idle.

    90 L98 idle speed adjustment

What does 'seems' mean? what is the idle at? auto or manual? if auto, what is it in gear and in park?

Corvette Resto-mods - Yes or No

I love original corvettes and wouldn't hack one up. However: at the point a nut and bolt restoration is done the car isn't "original" anymore. I'd much rather see a car that is kept looking pretty stock with updated suspension, brakes, wheels (tastefully done), and engine / tranny that can...

    Temperature Light

Another point is none of mine ever ran constant. In traffic the temp would swing up until the fans came on. On the highway I'd be much lower than 200 and that would vary based on the weather and speed. With the 180 degree stat in cool weather cruising 55 I would be right above 180. With a...
