    Question: Tire Advice

I went through the same selection process last summer for my ‘86. I had a set of BFG T/As that were worn out and I wanted to stay with the stock size. Base on what I had read I was about to go with BFG G-Force until I read that they were an ultra high performance “summer only” tire. I called...

    86 won't start - no fuel pressure

Here is the latest. The pump is running. I can hear it run for a few seconds when the key is turned on and it continues to run after I have tried to start it for a few seconds. There is some fuel pressure at the fuel rail as pressure is relieved when I push in on the valve stem where the...

    86 won't start - no fuel pressure

A few days ago I took my 86 for a short errand. I went to start it for the return trip home and it started but ran very rough and then died. It would not restart so we both got a ride on the tow truck home. I first changed the fuel filter but while I had it off I tried running the pump and...

    Service Engine Soon

Thanks everybody for all of the ideas. Just to let you know I couldn't get it fixed and I took it to my trusted repair shop today. It turns out that the MAS went out. They will get the part in tomorrrow and I get it back then. This turned out to be a rather expensive adventure.

    Service Engine Soon

I just cleaned my engine this past weekend on my '86 coupe and tonight was my first time to take it out. In less than a mile on the street the engine stumbled as it was making a shift from second to thrid and the service engine soon light came on. After that the engine seemed to be running...

    Important! Shocks & Handling

My '86 has the Z51 suspension and when I bought it a few years ago it had some no name tire store shocks on it. The build code lists it originally with Bilstein shocks. Wanting to get it back to stock and figuring that the Bilsteins might make it handle a little better I put a new set on a few...

I have an '86 and I need to get the engine and everything under the hood cleaned up again. A detail shop offers an engine steam clean service. Is there any problem with doing this? A couple of years ago when I was cleaning the engine I used a a spray on clener and then hosed it off with some...

The parts catelogs list a windjammer and say they eliminate noise and reduce wind buffeting. Do these really work? Thanks

    Yokohama Tires

Thanks, I'll check on that. I had originally thought about going with the BFG g-force but I drive mine in the winter when the weather is clear, or like today when it was 29 degrees when I leff for work. Tire Rack said abosolutely do not use the g-force tires in temperatures below 40 degrees...

    Keeping Engine Clean

I seem to be getting a lot of dirt coming into the engine compartment. The seals on top of the wheel wells that seal against the hood appear to be in good shape. Any tips on keeping the dirt out? Thanks!
