    New to Corvettes.....and forums!

Congrats and welcome. My C4 is a bit older but the reservoir's cap has an indicator for Hot/Cold coolant levels, like most cars. Empty leaves quite a lot of questions, as to just how low the coolant is. A factory service manual (FSM) is key to working on these cars; highly suggested...

    idle problem with 1987 vette

plus even a new oxy sensor can quickly foul with a poorly running engine, esp if too rich! any codes are your friend, but not an end all, either.

Broken bolt on thermostat housing @#%&^

Sadly, I have more of those 'tee-shirts' than the smiling ones and I am not new to this hobby. To clarify, I have broken more EZ-outs than not and they are a bit*h to drill out, especially with HF caliber bits. The ATF+acetone mix is reportedly the best, but is the corrosion going to allow it...

    92 Coupe LT1 a couple of questions?

Lotsa threads discuss running temperatures. Those sound on the low side but I see not need for change. Two sides of any E-circuit: power and ground. You have power, thru the normal wire, to the stock HCMBL but did you check for ground? Perhaps connecting both the same causes the LED light a...

Important! High oil pressure does not equate to good oil flow

A good read, IMO, and perhaps correcting a common misperception.. I always learn something from HotRodRoy, who stopped by for a look and the inevitable chat. One topic was oil viscosity. A professional mechanic pal of mine said they oft use 10W60 synthetic in newer (Teutonic) cars that are...

    Dash Lights Flicker @ Idle

No it's not, on that model series. On the '84, the ECM is a silver-metal box, with three large plugs into the side, residing above the passenger's footwell, behind the 'breadbox'. Grounds are CRUCIAL to any computer-controlled car, as is the minimum voltage of around 10VDC +/-. In later years...

Help! My 93 LT one runs 15 minutes then quits check engine light comes on car dies

Appreciate the feedback, even tho my car has none. Did you find out why the Opti was the issue? Oft, it is from a water leak from the water pump; may be advisable to also change while you're 'in there'. Also, there is an improved version of it which is not susceptible to that problem.

Anyone looking for an immaculate ZR-1?

All this time, I thought all '90 Corvettes had round tail lights. Did the ZR go to the '91 tail 'early'?

    Transmissions: richmond vs Tremec

I just gotta say, that my old C4 does y'all proud and I think of that all the time.... the helpful fellowship that is core to the car hobby. Maybe some are bored by hearing, but this C$, which are more and more rare on our roads, is an absolute BLAST (dated, I know) to drive. It's like when it...

found mice under my dash anyone...

A neighbor uses one that has an air pump that keeps the bag inflated; different bag. This answered a question: Can mice chew through a vehicle bag? They can chew through almost anything. Since they can not smell or see anything in the bag there is no reason for them to do it. We do get...

    Help! air intake

Doubt your $$ will change the performance on a stock engine. Sorry. There's plenty of words on the K/N, good and bad, on here. I run a stock filter etc. on my non-stock fire breather. I am one of the few non K/N fans ere, but have tried many, with no real change except to my wallet. I...

Help! 1992 C4 Will not always start when hot.

Before going down the same starter road, check the fuel pressure hold, as stated above. It's a quick and easy procedure. The injectors may be leaking into the hot cylinders, not allowing the engine to crank. After a while, the raw gas will seep past the rings and allow it. BTW, I tried a...

    Help! 1996 Supercharged Greenwood Edition, LT4, Z51

Maybe Placerville has no SMOG checks; some less urban areas of CA don't. The seller is responsible for passing SMOG, but that's usually left to the buyer, IMO. Here, E.O. stickers are supposed to be affixed for most aftermarket, CARB-legal mods to the engine. Also, the pass/fail standard is...

    Dwindling Availability of Tires

No dunlops !!! Without question, the Dunlops I have purchased were the WORST tires I have ever tried; this on a Corvette and on a bike. One set were not even round and shook the car, the other wore weirdly and formed cups, shaking the vehicle. Nice...... not. Fool me once.... after years...
