New Motor Arrived Today! - Distributor ?

Hey Darin, I'm still buying parts. Part of the wiring harness came in the mail this week while I'm on the road. I still need to pick a carb, clutch, pressure plate, accessory brackets, clean up AC hoses, install gas tank, fuel line, brake lines, power booster, reinstall all engine...

New Motor Arrived Today! - Distributor ?

Thanks for the advice. I've been on the road and haven't had a chance to check with the tech line. The motor is the YearOne 400/440 crate. I expected more details when the motor came regarding the specs on the internals but didn't get any. The good news is their tech line is top notch. I'll...

New Motor Arrived Today! - Distributor ?

I gave in an bought the HEI with Tach Drive from Mid America today. They said it would work with a roller cam but suggested I put the Brass gear on it anyway. I have to call the engine tech line to double check but that's the way I'm going now. I also ordered the new engine harness. They're...

New Motor Arrived Today! - Distributor ?

My crate motor arrived today! I'm very happy even though it's going to be a few weeks until I can bolt it up. The dyno sheet shows it at Peak HP of 416 @ 5700 rpm and Peak Torque at 423 @ 4300. The torque is about 20 lb ft less than advertised but HP is 16 more than advertised so I'm fairly...

    Wiring Harness Removal - ?

Just got the Wiring Diagram today. I was out of town and it was waiting for me when I got home. VERY VERY nice. The print is huge and I can actually read it. The color coded wiring is going to be a life saver and the vacuum hose layout will save a bunch of time. Thank you very much Don...

    HELP leaf spring install

I couldn't shave the nut enough. Using a slightly larger drill bit than the hole already there was a 5 minute fix. I just had to be very careful. I think the hole was plent deep enough. Good luck. Let me know how it turned out for you.

    HELP leaf spring install

I had the same problem and found out the head of the nut (center bolt) was larger than the recessed hole in the diff. Made me really mad. If you have a caliper measure the head of the nut and compare to the hole or use a socket that fits in the hole exactly to compare to the nut. My...

    Brake Power Booster Removal Suggestions?

Thanks for the advice. Looks like a run to Sears for me. For some reason a wobble socket is not one of the items in the tool box. Any excuse for a new tool. BTW I'm in Keller.

Flywheel and clutch for 1 piece rear main seal

The flywheel showed up yesterday, motor is still in transit. I bought a 14 inch flywheel. What size clutch did you use? 11inch? Does the stock pressure plate really bolt up to the new flywheel? Thanks

    Wiring Harness Removal - ?

Don, You're a stealthy and funny guy :D. Looks like I cannot live without a diagram like what you have. I've got a 71 convertible. I've never done Paypal. What other payment options do you have? Jon

Flywheel and clutch for 1 piece rear main seal

Sorry guys. Seems like question day for me. And yes I do search the forum before I post questions. I ordered my crate motor. It has a 1 piece rear main seal so I needed to order a new flywheel. I got the 14 inch flywheel. I'm assuming this will fit within the bell housing for the old...

    Wiring Harness Removal - ?

Waterboy, Thanks. I saw the bolt but didn't want to start disconnecting or pulling randomly. It appears simple enough. I'll check out M&H. I saw Lectric Limited (sp?) too. Any thoughts on both vendors? Whiplash

    Brake Power Booster Removal Suggestions?

I know I'm going a bit crazy with new threads this morning but I'm in it deep in the engine compartment right now. I need to remove and replace the brake power booster. I found the four bolts under the dash that hold it in but cannot figure out how to get to them the best way. Does the dash...

Wiper Door Vacuum Canister Clean Up

The Vacuum canisters for my wiper door and headlights work fine but they are a little rough looking. I'd like to clean them up a bit. Is there any trick to restoring these with either paint or polish? They appear to have an anodized finish on them. Thanks, Whiplash

    AC Reassembly?

As I explained in my wiring harness post I'm cleaning up the engine bay right now on my 71. Part of the process was complete removal of the AC from condenser, drier, hoses, muffler, valve, and coil. Everything is now out. All the hoses are in good shape. Some were leaking and I can tell that...

    Wiring Harness Removal - ?

The motor is on it's way and the trans is being rebuilt. I'm cleaning up the engine bay and have several questions. The first one is about the wiring harness. I'm removing everything from the engine bay so I can clean it an put a fresh coat of black in the whole bay. As I began clearing off...

Got the frame back... Paint Question

Bud, I ended up cutting 3 inches off the length of the front section so it would clear the radiator cross member and fit in between the metal sections that bolted to the frame. Also the main square section didn't fit inside the rails the way I liked. The corner braces got in the way of...

Got the frame back... Paint Question

I got my frame back this past weekend from the stripper. It came out great. They sprayed it with DP90 Epoxy primer inside and out and it really looks good. On the way home I stopped at a local body shop to see if they could squirt it with paint to finish it off. Here's the question. The...
