Shell Rotella T oil for Flat Tappet Engines?

I used Valvoline VR1 with my rebuild and it worked fine particularly with the cam break-in period. I changed the oil after the initial start-up (cam break-in), and then after 500 miles I went with the regular Valvoline (non race) oil. It's been a couple of years now - so far so good.... Ralph

    Another Ebay gem

Hmmmm... it didn't sell; not one bid. eBay Motors: Chevrolet : Corvette (item 320320519063 end time Dec-01-08 17:50:57 PST) With our country now officially in recession - not really surprised. I don't think that this big block is the "deal of the year" as written in the description.

post you before and after projects.

A quality paint job is largely dependent upon the body/surface preparation. I have most of mine sanded down to bare glass. After you complete the bodywork, look into using Evercoat Slick Sand... it's a thick primer/filler that should cover any rough spots. You'll need to use a 2.0 - 2.1 tip...

    Time for a motor rebuild

I was referring to roller tip rocker arms. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but those appeared to be roller tip only. Anyway, I had a bad experience with them. ;shrug

    Time for a motor rebuild

Cut a hole in the hood and then what? Your rebuild looks good. Only one thing - others may have different opinions, but I would caution you on the use of roller tip rockers. I had a meticulous engine rebuild and used roller tips - mine failed and it broke a valve spring (click here). I've...

    Help! New Oil Leak:

Hi 401, Sometimes the synthetic oils are so slick, that leaks can start in susceptible areas. Just remove the valve covers and gaskets, clean up the contact areas on the covers as well as the head. If you have stamped steel, and the metal is only bent and not broken - go ahead and try to...

Help! Removing C3 Headlight Housing / Assembly

Pete, 69 Coupe, and mrvette, Thanks for the info! So I remove the six #8 screws. Do I loosen all of the #3 screws and not remove them? I'll have to work on being a contortionist to get to some of these... my hood is already removed, and my entire front end open - with the lower valance...

Help! Removing C3 Headlight Housing / Assembly

Hello All, I've been continuing with the body prep, but am at an impasse. For the front end, I am not sure how remove the headlight housing (top) so I can properly prep the sides of the housing and opening. I was able to remove the headlight bezels. I've been looking at the AIM, and did a...

    Question: LT1/bigblock hood

Apparently there's a new LT-1 long style available... see center description. So there ya go!!! At $425, I'm sure it's a hand-laid hood - not press molded... but it's still a great price. Ralph :D
