The only thing I got from them that was any good was their crossmember. I know you had trouble with that on your car. I had my trans rebuilt @ Phoenix Transmission locally, and got twice the warranty(2 yr. from date of install, not 1 yr. from date of sale) and it was almost half the price.
[ I was looking at bowtieoverdrives.com, and they have some nice built 700r4s that will handle that power.
If I were you, I would steer far away from Bowtie Overdrives. bought one of their stage 2 units with a 2500 stall converter and it only made it 15000 miles before it went to sh*t...
Just saw the post and said---WTF? Not necessary, man. I just wanted to help out a fellow Vette guy. You would've done the same. Glad it worked out, Art
When I restored my 77 I ordered a lot from them over about a 2 year period. Everything I got was on the money and on time. I never had an issue. It's too bad you had a bad experience with them. Perhaps I was one of the lucky ones. Art
Send me an E-mail at ajett@whes.com and I'll reply with pics. I sold the motors off the pass side. I could UPS it to you from work. We get special rates cause I send out a lot of crap.
I just got a roll of the metal silver colored tape used on air conditioning plenums and taped the joints and around the edges. It was in the same department as the Reflectix.
They'll do things that make you think---why did we have kids? Then turn around and make you cry with happiness. We have 3 daughters and 4 granddaughters. (Old guy)
My 18" wheels are a lot lighter than the stock alum. wheels were. I'm running 255/45-18" in the rear and 235/40-18" in the front and the ride is pretty good I think. The handling is a vast improvement!
On mine, the torque converter went out. It started by not going into lockup and finally just took a crap altogether-taking the rest of the tranny with it.
I had a Bowtie stage 2 for a while and it never did shift right. I had the TV cable adjusted correctly also. It finally gave it up and come to find out, they put a bunch of used parts in it when they built it. I only got 15000 miles out of it before it cratered. The sprag had wear indicating...
If it weren't such a huge PITA to get the gauges out, I would replace mine. I have almost the same issue. I have been through 3 senders from different vendors, the wire is intact and my gauge reads a consistent 20*-25* high. I can read my billet water neck @ 179* and the gauge will be reading...
For some reason, every time I try to post a picture it comes up as a red "X"! Easiest way would be for you to E-mail me @ ajett@whes.com so I would have your e-mail address. I could then send you a good pic. I don't have a computer at home though, and I'm going to be out of the office till...
