Here This is a shot from under the car. Please disregard the dirt, I have a 1/4 mile gravel and dirt driveway. I almost have to waash the car as I leave to keep it clean till I get back home.
I put an air filter assy from an 85 under the radiator and cut out the lid and made a scoop. It is about 2"x12" and comes out right in the middle of the air dam. I just cut out a notch for it. Works great. Not only does it bring in cold air, the faster I go, the more air is forced in.
I started out with a 700R-4 and 3.08 rear. Made for good mileage but a real dog on the highway. When cruising 60 mph @ 1400 rpm if you need to accelerate, but not enough to kick it into passing gear it had no balls whatever. And I'm not running a stock L-48 either. I have an injected 383 with a...
If you decide to go with a 700R-4, I reccomend not using the Bowtie. I bought a stage 2 and put it behind my 383. After only 15000 miles, the converter came apart and took the trans with it. I took it to Phoenix transmission and they showed me the parts that came out of it. The servo was for a...
When installing a new spring, be sure to just snug the bolts on the bottom of the diff. before you put the weight of the car on the spring. Then torque them. If you torque them with the weight off the spring then set the car down, you run the risk of breaking the mount on the rear diff...
I even called Zip to see what was up and was told that no one is reproducing them at this time. Try Contemporary Corvettes in Bristol, Pennsylvania. They are a Corvette salvage yard and great people to do business with. I have bought parts from them on more than one occasion and have gotten...
I'm running 3" stainless all the way from the headers back. I have 30" long chambered sections from Stainless works under the floorboards beside the trans. I don't have much ground clearance but I've also lowered the car about 2" from the F-41 suspension.
The company I bought mine from is First Fuel Injection. I'm pretty sure you could just buy the plenum, runners and manifold. Mine uses all the stock sensors. I forgot to add that on my last trip to Arkansas, I got over 22 MPG.
Before you try to take the rear assy. apart to grease, read up on it. It is much more involved on these cars than on on a standard setup. The spindles are pressed in place and have specific tolerances that need to be held. Look for threads on the subject.
I would think that if you got larger runners you would also have to change the lower manifold to get larger ports to match the runner I.D. Without that, you would be choking down the air flow from the larger runners at that point. I have an aftermarket TPI system with larger runners, lower...
I didn't get anything for the car but I did get a coupon to go to Tx. Motor Speedway (Nascar track) and I get to ride in a new Z0-6 for 5 laps with a pro driver and then they hand me the keys for 10 laps. :D
